    It seems to be a thing so I figured I’d show of where I’ll be spending all my time this weekend.  The two monitors are attached to my Windows machine, and then I have my Mac setup for build testing later / Tweetdeck / etc.  Can’t wait for the theme to be revealed in about an hour!

    Mini Ludum Dare 53 Preparation

    So I’ve set myself up for a weekend of mind-numbing code, art, and audio production – and things couldn’t be better.

    Pictured here is my trusty workstation – headphones, dual-monitors, graphics tablet, keyboard/mouse, and a notebook for art designs, algorithm outlines, and other note-taking none-sense.

    I’ll be using my own custom libGDX framework as a starting point for my game. As it is, it consists of a simple project with separate Android and Desktop launchers, and basic input, audio, text, graphics, and logic processing, as well as useful debugging modes for memory, collision, and state inspection in real-time. Simple as can be!

    I’ve also taken the time to set up a Chronolapse so that I can compile a sped-up movie of my development experience, and a handy Windows Gadget by the name of SphereTimer so that I can track my overall time (and pause when taking breaks).

    And I’m good to go! Just need to grab some good ol’ RedBull or similar Jack-rabbit fuel and I’ll be good to go. Oh, and I’ll be using # for future MLD53 posts.

    Best of luck to all those dev’ers out there!

    (EDIT: Note: It actually already started, but I wasn’t able to submit my post due to the site being offline :P)

    Hey everybody! I just got a bunch of relaxing sleep (it’s about 3 AM) and now I’m motivated as hell. Let’s do this!

    I actually wanted to do a live stream, but it seems that this won’t be possible without any issues, however I’ll try to do a timelapse instead.

    And just because everyone else does it, I’ll show you my workstation:

    A second screen would really be incredibly useful, but I dont have one :/ At least I have a second keyboard, because I don’t like programming on immovable and non-adjustable laptop keyboards. Oh, and that thing on the left doesn’t just look like an external HDD I fixed with duckt tape, It actually is.

    Anyway, dood luck everybody! ;)

    Happy 10th Birthday Ludum Dare, I’m in!

    It’s that time again, and only 4 months, 1 GGJ, 1 SOPAJam, and 3 MiniLDs later I am ready to celebrate Ludum Dare’s 10th Birthday! The framework and tool chain this time round for me will probably be some of this stuff:

    * Engine: My own, Psybrus (https://github.com/neilogd/Psybrus).
    * IDE: Visual Studio 2010.
    * Text Editor: Sublime Text 2.
    * Image Editor: GIMP.
    * 3D: Blender & Pixexix.
    * Sound & Music: Audacity & FL Studio 10.
    * Timelapse: Chronolapse.
    * Livestream: Xsplit (I will be located here: http://www.twitch.tv/neilogd).

    After watching Notch make Prelude of the Chambered and Minicraft, I decided that i am inspired enough to try to participate a competition!

    Who am I? I am just another Unity dude out there, with a specific passion for basic geometic shapes (my poor modeling skills also contribute on this) and pixellated stuff. I mainly program in JavaScript, but I’ve learned that C# is much more complete un Unity. Lately I’ve been playing with Jurassic to implement a modding API, with no success. Maybe after some forced exercise I’ll catch the train (not sure if this expression exists in English). I guess i should follow those posters below and post my workspace.

    My coding placeYes, there is a mrror behind my screen.

    It’s a kind of average gaming computer. I like to play games and code stuff (mostly obnoxiously useless tests) and play with physics.

    If anyone wants to see what I’ve made, visit my site.

    Figured I’d post my setup cause all the cool kids are doing it

    workstation

    core2duo with dual monitors and win7
    msi wind netbook with win7. using synergy to make it function like 3 displays, typically just use the netbook for chat/irc/email and performance testing

    I’m probably going to settle on Flash for easily getting something running. Going to try FlashPunk instead of Flixel because it sounds a little more better organized.

    My lovely, messy workstation. Meows.

    Got my SNES gamepad to (hopefully) get joystick stuff working in the game.

    Got my Line 6 GuitarPort so I can hook up my guitar to the computer for cool recording stuffs.

    The gold box to the left of my monitor is a Retrode that I won in a naming contest. :) Fun!

    Oh, and yes, I am using an old fan grill as a coaster for my now-empty glass of orange juice.
