Okay, the game is really close to finished. I still have a couple sound effects to make and finish the in-game README reader. I never made a title screen, so there’s that too.
I love this game! I’m so busy playing through the levels, enjoying the randomness.
The point is, it’s almost done. I decided to name the game ‘Everlasting,’ because tiny worlds are so tiny, they could never fill the universe. Also, because the game doesn’t have an end event, it just cycles for as long as you feel like playing. The little guy you control is just reborn over and over in different places. Hmm, that’s an interesting concept really…
To everybody finished already, congratulations! This is going to be one of the most memorable Ludum Dares in history.
Thank goodness the site’s back up – I was starting to get worried there. Well done and thanks to all involved!
Well towards the end of yesterday I was starting to lose momentum, but I did get a placeholder title screen and end sequence in place, making it more or less complete in terms of gameplay.
Today I can focus on polish: graphics, sound, music and so on. I’m off for a morning walk and then down to business!
This time, I decided to start with the title screen! No, the title isn’t final. :p
Well I’ve decided to only use up to three colors per graphic, so this is what the game will look like all the way through. I’ll make it look better tomorrow, hopefully.
Cool. With 5 hours to go, I’ve completed the gameplay for my entry. It’s extremely basic – you just have to collect all the treasures from a giant labyrinth – but I’ve got my title screen and ending screens in there and everything. Here’s a screenshot demonstrating my line-of-sight stuff:
Now I need to get started replacing all the placeholder graphics. Ack! Then again, maybe I should just call the game “Title Screen”…
If I get all that done, I’ll add some sound effects and then think about extra polish. But at this point, I’m not going to be adding any more gameplay elements.
