:: RoadZ :: Bugfix release

Posted by destroysound
Monday, December 8th, 2008

This is a bugfix for Roadz. I’m pretty sure there is an issue with the timing code on Windows ONLY (as in, it doesn’t work at all and makes the game even more ridiculously hard.) This release should stop that from happening. Includes Win32 binary and Python source. The original is still up if you want to take a look.

Edit: Making this fix broke something else non-critical (but annoying!) in that it was truncating the times to the nearest second. That’s fixed in the above zip as well.

Looking good!

With 7 hours 19 minutes 20 seconds left in LD13, I’m looking pretty good!

The main menu’s still the same, but now there’s a pause menu (of sorts) and some semi-gameplay.

And in that 7 hours 19 minutes 10 seconds left, I just need to add a goal and something to keep you from reaching that goal.

Roads of Dare 1.0 FINAL

It’s a board game for 1-3 human players, with AIs taking over the other 1-2 cars depending on how many humans there are. Cars can’t jump over each other, so if there’s no free lanes, you can block the traffic. Different routes are longer than others, and it’s possible to run out of gas.

Everyone plays with the same cards, only shuffled differently. Have fun!

Progress, demo

I have a demo. You die somewhat haphazardly when objects collide, and it doesn’t tell you when you win (but you have when all the blue thingies have reached the opposite side). I do have win detection, it just doesn’t show anything. What else… Ah, you place roads by clicking the gray tile in the toolbox and then clicking in the world. Roads make objects go twice as fast. Restart the game by clicking [R].

Demo

I’m afraid I won’t be able to add a lot of maps though… I’m aiming to do this in under 4kb (so I can submit the game to the Java4k competition as well), and I’m almost out of space.

Screenie, in case you can’t try the demo:

The main menu! Yay!

The game. Aww.

Finishing up tonight - pause menu, driving controls

Tomorrow - people that follow you, obstacles, and a goal.

BLDR Concept

This is the concept for my game, BLDR. You basically have to build roads to guide things from somewhere to somewhere else. With obstacles, and not running over your people.

Ack, the time!

I’m finding it hard to find the time to find a game idea.

If you didn’t understand that sentence, just read it as “I’m short on time.” Anyway, I’m hoping to be able to participate with a 24-hour game (sunday only), but we’ll see.

Also, I urge you all to play some Towlr before the contest starts.

Good luck to everyone!
