No seriously. If double rainbow zombies would’ve won, I seriously considered that title. But, as per tradition:
Om nom nom nom scarf!
Hrm, hard to think of this theme in a non-mechanic way. In the meantime, FOODUM DARE!
Banana is supposed to be good for the brain or something right?
Also, snacks are esential. These are from the nearby 100 yen store. <3 100 yen stores.
Now I don’t have to go outside again for a while. Which is good because it is really stinking hot out there.
yaaaaahhhh good morning brain ! had a busy night hã ? will feed you with some crackers and grape juice, and now make the fingers move and lets code this game, that you spend the whole night thinking about.
Framework: This Stego AS3 framework thing that I’ve accumulated over the last several months: http://bitbucket.org/excitemike/stego/
IDE: FlashDevelop. compiling with mxmlc.
Graphics: A copy of Photoshop CS 1 which as far as you know was obtained completely legitimately.
Sound Effects: I bet you can guess this one.
For timelapse: I will be using Keeyai’s Chronolapse on account of it’s awesomeness.
Sauce Control: Mercurial, which I love.
Favorite Dinosaur: Microraptor gui
And actually I may use Unity, depending on what kind of ideas I get once the theme is announced, but the above is most likely.
I need to get a decent camera. The webcam built into the cheap laptop is kind of a pain to use.
So I had a bit of a curve ball thrown at me earlier in the week, my computer finally up and died. So I’ll be working in at my space at the uni here. Luckily I’ve been throwing everything needed for development onto my portable HD, so I should be good as long as I don’t need to actually install anything.
Tools will probably be:
-Flash Develop, because it can run off a portable HD.
-Flixel, with the base code JonothanW threw out there… which I should probably look at before we start.
-sfxr and musagi, because DrPetter is King.
-Graphics Gale for graphics, because it does pixels.
Another screenshot of what’s going on, looks quite similar to before but I’ve done a fair bit of work that I’m happy with
And now it’s pizza time
Spend the better part of 6 hours trying to find a bug in my mapping procedure… only to discover that there wasn’t one! I had set the bounds too high, and it would have worked, had I given it enough time on any of my many tests. Oh dear!
Made up for the frustration by having an awesome breakfast courtesy of my roomie, Sarah.
ahhh wake up and makeyourself full of potassium
and write the first big todo list :

- draw 10 different vegetables
- draw 3 different quest givers
- draw 3 enemies
- add to the quest giver to code to show the quest
- all the char to gather stuff
- add random code to add vegetables to places in the map
- add coin counter
- add bomb key and bomb damage
- make enemies move and attack
- buy bombs
- add life control and die event
- create bomb machine
- create main menu
I got a idea for a game: turn based exploration and treasure hunting in the some deep dark jungle.
And this is what a ate fore breakfast, time to do some shopping and iron out the details, then some lunch and coding/art creation!
The tools will be c++, sfml for the coding and paint.net/gimp and sfxr/audacity for the artist side.
fuel for the brain !! frozen iogurt + kiwi + berries
So, just because I took the pic (And I _was_ doing the clouds warmup) (Pics and such continue below)
Well currently code is broken but prior to the syntax bomb of new elements being added I had red and blue soldiers on the map admittedly appearing in the middle of the sea but in the game!
Now have coffee and going on a bug hunt 9:07.51 to go!
Now I’m sure about it ! my wife is a cannibal !! she wants to make me fat so I can be more tasty, look how much food she is cooking for me !!
Got some basic graphics sorted now just need to write the actual game…
Just concept in art package at the moment but… I’ll be back (still 13:05.30 to go!)
Got a basic menu screen appearing … OMG I’m trying to create an RTS in 48hrs don’t tell me the odds, now where is more red wine and lots of coffee!
Well here is my breakfast some Solomon sandwiches, Cola and few peaces of Melo
So! Woke up at half 7 this morning, took a peek at the theme, and then went back to bed for a while to think about it. Caverns, eh?
Eventually got up properly and made bovril toast and 200ml of orange juice for breakfast! Yum! Liquified cow.
Been doing some brainstorming on the pad you can see to the left there – I’ve got an idea I rather like:
Alternative Club Tycoon: The Cavern Club
You own and run “The Cavern Club” – a struggling nightclub for the goth/metal/rock community of your town/city. It’s up to you to choose the tracks, price the drinks, and get everyone happy (well, keep the goths poetic, at least).
- The graphics will be gravy. It’s going to be a number crunching game, or at least a number balancing game.
- Any graphics I do make for it will be heavily stylised and hopefully ‘cute’. Look forward to cubic metal heads moshing!
- Music. Huh. I’m going to see if I can get away with being sneaky here, because there’s no way I can create ‘generic goth track number 17′ and ‘generic metal anthem 8′.
Oh, and I discovered that I can’t use the ‘play and charge’ cable to make an XBOX 360 pad work on the PC. Doh! I’ll be getting a wired controller some time today – but if it’s a sim game, mouse control seems best anyway!
