Pixel Ninja – My Results
Hey everybody,
I am not a man of much words, so I’ll just start with my Ludum Dare results:
![]() |
Coolness | 72% |
| #133 | Theme(Jam) | 3.67 |
| #199 | Fun(Jam) | 3.08 |
| #234 | Humor(Jam) | 2.29 |
| #358 | Audio(Jam) | 2.49 |
| #359 | Overall(Jam) | 2.90 |
| #370 | Graphics(Jam) | 2.85 |
| #405 | Mood(Jam) | 2.53 |
| #468 | Innovation(Jam) | 2.27 |
That’s how I did. In my first Ludum Dare ever, the 26th. Pretty nice, huh?
First, I’d like to thank everybody who rated my game, so:
Thank you, karsyf, nintendoeats, danielcmessias, gizmo, Jesper Oskarsson, Jellycakes, SuperlevelSebastian, myachin, Felix20, qdowngames, sekaru, FREEZX, Xanjos, acro, HelkeGames and hgouveia. You guys gave me nice feedback!
Let’s get back to the table. I was really lucky to see my entry on the 359th place(Jam, Overall). “Theme” also was one of the two things I was aiming for. The other one was “Fun”. And that worked! Sure, graphics were also important to me, but nevermind
. The next thing is “Innovation”. Well, that didn’t worked. But I expected this. I made a Fruit Ninja clone. Yeah right, the game everybody played at least once, but this was important for the “Humor”, I guess. “Audio” has never been my strength. It is my weakness, but luckily, we got SFXR and the Randomize button. What an awesome tool!
So, actually thats it. My first Ludum Dare entry, wich was definetly not my last, was really fun to make. I got much feedback, wich made me happy, and I made (some) people (hopefully) happy by giving them my game.
My goal for the Ludum Dare was (sure, make a high ranking, but more important) making people happy. Maybe so happy, they download my game, play it, enjoy it and show it their friends. That would be one of the most awesome things for me. (That, and have someone to write something about my game somewhere on the internet.) And, sure, getting more experience in coding, blah blah blah
.
Thank you all really much. Hope you had as much fun as I had and, see you next time!
Also, congrats to the winners “timtipgames” and “claw”! I love your games!
I didn’t finish the game, but I posted it anyway.
Don’t worry, it’s still playable, maybe even fun. It’s a top-down RPG-style game. Try it here. Here’s a screenshot:
It does have a goat:

First LD48 compo, entry done !

I’m glad I somehow ‘finished’ something, even if it missed 60% of the whole (small) game I wanted to do…
My HTML5/JS game is named “PixelVolution”d
Even if I didn’t go as far as I wanted to, it was great fun ! I will do more game jams, this is sure !
Sleeping time now !
Entry post
Well, let’s see if LD#24 goes better than the last one.
C++ and SFML, with the help of Visual Studio 2010, GIMP, and Blender.
It’s on now.
So I think I’m IN!
This will be my first attempt to…finish…anything really! But I love the crunch so we’ll see how it goes.
I’m going to be using Unity Game Engine, Photoshop and Blender for visuals, and Pro Tools and Audacity for the audio. I don’t plan on using any existing code, just drawing from what little knowledge I have and leaning strongly on the Google crutch.
I will also likely use a very basic sprite/texture animation script, which I will probably modify. You can find it here: http://pastebin.com/8gPqFU3D
I will try to make most of the sounds but I will inevitably end up using http://www.sounddogs.com/ and perhaps http://www.bfxr.net/
I’m going to do my best to update with video (using Camstudio & Windows Movie Maker), as well as art concepts, etc as I go.
Anyway, cheers and good luck to all the other #LD23 entrants!
~Mitch
ps. Does anyone know how to change the profile pic for WP? I can’t seem to figure that one out…
Leave me Alone!!, my game for Ludum Dare 22
To continue with tradition, I made a game for this Ludum Dare named Leave me Alone!! (sadly, it seems like there are 3 or more games named that way).
I had little time to spend making the game so I targeted a simple game with almost no graphics nor sounds but fun.
The story behind the game is, you have to isolate a particle from other particles to keep the world safe, if they make contact then the world explodes in a mega hyper super duper explosion (use your imagination).
Here is a screenshot:

And here is a gameplay video.
In it not to win it!
I’m entering for the first time, so I’m basicaly a LD virgin.
Anyway I don’t think it will hurt, but it will probably be a bit awkward…
Programming: AS3 ( FlashBuilder )
Library: Flixel
Graphics: Photoshop
Music: Nanoloop ( iPhone )

Entry/Postmortem – Bad Hotel
Monday, May 2nd, 2011 6:07 am
[ ENTRY | PLAY THE COMPO VERSION [Web - Flash] | PLAY THE JAM VERSION | Sources]
You built a hotel in on a patch of ground that missiles like to hit. You must now attach shields to protect it. Last as long as you can manage. You have to wait for the shields to be delivered to you though.
Z – Load, then attach a shield from the left
X – Load, then attach a shield from the top
C – Load, then attach a shield from the right
There is a Jam version as well that has better music, and sound effects. It also has a global high score table, so you can get ranked. The gameplay did not change at all though.
Thanks to Bender for the post format. I hope you don’t mind me borrowing it.
Post mortem in the extended.

Entry Post – My little selling shop on Earth
[ ENTRY | PLAY THE GAME [Web - Flash] | Sources]
Your spaceship crashed on an unknown planet called Earth and where inhabitants seems to live in The Middle Ages. There is kings, knights, princess and treasure hunters but they all appears to be cowards.
So your grandpa decided for you that you will explore dangerous dungeons on this planet in order to get loots and treasures and sell it in your brand new shop. Yes, you have a shop where people comes, buy a treasure and claim to every one that he has explored the dungeon, killed the monster and got the treasure ![]()
With enough money you will be able to repair your ship and get the hell out of this damn planet !
Left & Right Arrow : Move
Up Arrow & Space : Jump (when jump available)
Down Arrow & X : Interact
C & Z : shoot (when gun available)
There is some bugs :
- If your character don’t appear on the screen after changing area, I’m sorry but you’re screwed… this is a shitty tips but try to avoid returning to already visited area (when you don’t have to).
- You can’t re-enter your own shop… (anyway you don’t have to do that to finish the game)
A bug fixed version will come soon. I’ll made a new post about it.
Sort of a Game
Sunday, May 1st, 2011 8:19 pmI sort of got some kind of playable thing together by the deadline – more or less.
It was nowhere near what I wanted it to be; no audio, no real gameplay other than a quick boss fight, no titles, no ending… But I guess the graphics could be a lot worse.
I’m going to work on my game more tomorrow and probably enter it as a jam entry, too. I’ve also got to edit my timelapse together. But now, sleep.
Done! My first entry to LD48
EDIT: Windows port added \o/

Hello,
This is my first LD and gaming compatition ever…
But I have made many games/apps for the pc using GM and C#. I’m probably going to make the game in GM7 or 8. Also if anyone knows whether we can use engines (rpg, platformer etc.) that we made before the compo for this compo. (awnser in comments)
Well anyways good luck to all the people contending.
