I made this entry for the rebellious candy jam… pretty sure it’s my best game so far!
Check it out!
Made with: Unity, Inkscape, Sfxr, Autotracker
Once, in a place not too different from ours, there was a people yearning for a life in peace. But they were ruled by a ruthless King who only loved one thing more than to see his people suffer. He loved candy. Most of all he loved playing a game he himself had “come up with”.
Each time the King got three candies connected, he scored. And when things were going badly, he cheated. The people had to produce new candy at an alarming rate to satisfy their King.
They had to resist.
The people started removing candies on the playing field right under his nose. They even went as far as to condition the King to play faster when they pressed a special buzzer.
The most daring used it quite often.
To gain the most, they needed the King to loose quickly while removing as few candies as possible. It was after all they who had to produce them.
Good luck, and save us all!
UPDATE: NOW FIXED STUPID TRANSPARENT MENU THING THAT WAS BLOCKING PLAY…
Give it a spin and let me know if you find it fun. Or if something could have been made better. Become the world record holder.
Lesson learned from this blunder of uploading games in the middle of the night while very tired and quite stressed: Don’t do it.
We are DONE!
This weekend was really awesome! We had a lot of fun making this game and we’d like to expand on this game in the future.
This game is a constant runner game. In this game you collect cookies in a candy filled world. But while you are collecting cookies, you don’t want to get stuck in these huge cakes and brownies. So, you jump over them! You only get one key to jump. But, whenever you pick up a keychanger, the jump key changes to a new random key.

Greetings from the Atomic Vikings!
So… after 13 hours and 45 minutes we have our first implementation of the core features of our game!
There is still a lot of work to do, but the game is playable!
Greetings from your friendly atomic vikings team receptionist named: Linda Smellröf
When will I learn? The graphics aren’t done yet. Making “nice” graphics and tiles takes time. Valuable time. Perhaps I will remember that next time
My first LD entry, for the #7 compo in December 2005.
Story, according to readme.txt:
You’re kidding right? Uhm… Control
Jackie as she tries to escape from her
sugar-induced nightmare by climbing an
ever-growing flower. Flying pigs are
attacking and she needs to feed them
candy until they burst.
Collect delicious pig eggs for score,
and keep a look-out for hearts to boost
your health should you need it.
What more is there to say? You jump around, throw candy, collect eggs and try not to fall into the water as platforms appear and disappear from the randomly growing flower. The flower itself was the most advanced piece of code in this one, and the first thing I started working on. Generally I seem to go about LD compos that way – think of some cool technical concept, then implement it and try to turn it into a retro platformer somehow…
Download, WIN32 binary+src: jackiebs.zip (1.24 MB)
Just starting out, no platforms have grown out yet.
Flower has grown a fair bit and there are tons of platforms.
White pig has eaten too much candy, burst is imminent.
