    MiniLD #37

    MiniLD #37, hosted by ratking

    Theme: Not-games or real time

Adrift - A realtime castaway simulator - Tyen - Mini LD Entry

In this boat simulator you have lost your sail and now adrift in the deep ocean.

The game is set to use your computer's clock for the sky. Meaning if you start the game up at six in the morning, you will be able to see the sun rise!

Other fun features are weather conditions like thunders storms, and a bunch of other fun ones.

    Controls-
    WASD - Movement
    Mouse - Looking

    Note-
There is no current way to quit the game if you are running in fullscreen mode. Please use ALT-F4

I chose both the themes for this MiniLD. Taking the 'Not-a-game' theme and using the boat as more of an experience. While the 'Real-time' theme is used in the sun and sky.

Was a fun little game to make over this weekend, and I intend on ironing out all the bugs and updating the game soon.

This is my first game (well... not-game really) that I have released through LD, please let me know what you think :)
    Have fun!

For the water I used the the community Ocean Unity Plugin, and the sky uses the UniStorm plugin, everything else I created for this project.

Playing in the morning and nice bright weather but then boat suddendly sinked and I drowned :(. Yeah you should keep working on this project. Add some stuff like ufos, message bottles, mystery stuff etc. Cool!

    This is really good!
The boat and the sky are beautiful and it conveys a great mood! I really felt...alone.
I cheated a bit with my windows clock to see different skies and every single one was great. I think I'm gonna put this on my desktop to have my daily sailing minutes.
    Also, I just mini-reviewed it in french : http://oujevipo.fr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=787:adrift&catid=38:30-minutes-&Itemid=57

It would be super cool with some hints of land that you can never reach or something :)

A tiny bit too heavy for my computer and the fullscreen from web player didn't seem to work here.

This is too cool! And it fits with both themes. These are beautiful effects. I'll save the file to look at later. ;)

One more thing! I'd like to have a little more freedom. Maybe if I could crouch to go farther in the boat and look out portholes, or move far enough to peer over the edge, or climb onto the higher deck and stand on the bow...

AND NEED I SAY what a brilliant boat model this is?

The boat just tilted forwards very far with me in the cabin, and then began to rotate about like it was sinking. :(
But it doesn't appear to fill with water, did you mean to add this?

Ah very atmospheric, cool. Would have liked a little more to do I guess but you've created a nice little space here. Brings me back to the fact I'd like to set a game in a vast ocean someday, hmm...

Meh, tried to start it on Linux using Wine. It crashed :'(
Can't wait for the new Unity version to bring Linux support.

    Updated -
Fix major problem with collision model causing boat to sink when you go to the front of the boat.

You can now go to the front of the boat and look out the windows :)

    This is gorgeous! Very soothing.

I started playing around 8:30. I noticed some weird artifacts, though. Like, seeing very pronounced sun-rays on a cloudy night. As I kept playing, the graphics seemed to deteriorate. I could see the into the inside of my ship as a in the reflection in the water by looking over the port bow. I even sailed right out of the ocean! :)

I'll try to remember to check it out around 6:00 :).

Ooops. I meant to say, "I could see into the inside of my ship as a reflection in the water by looking over the port bow." What I mean is, as I looked into the water, the reflection I saw was the same view and perspective as if my head was rotated and I was looking into the ship's cabin from that spot.

This is very beutiful! But i have a few ideas.
#1 - Huge waves that engulf your ship
    #2 - Heavy rain
    #3 - Tsunami's
#4 - Ability to close doors and MAYBE windows and ability to go sleep and a random chance of either sleeping through a massive wave/tsunami attack and random chance of death, or you get woken up and have the ability to TRY and keep the ship clear of water with a bucket that is hanging somewhere or under a bed or in a small cabinet
#5 - all in all make it really awesomer-some-sauce and more realistic and badass
    #6 - maybe an auto-updater if possible?
