Secretnet - 31eee384 - Competition Entry
Welcome to the world of IRC.
Shady business takes place in this channel of libertynet, and it's your job as an investigative reporter to get to the bottom of this. Type carefully--you may end up with regrets.
Controls:
* Click on a green-highlighted word to view dialogues choices you can make based on it.
* After clicking a word, click on a choice from the input box below.
That's it! Unless you want to skip by text rapidly--just click and hold in the scrolling-text part of the screen. I heavily recommend not doing this on your first playthrough though!
Oh, and just so everyone's aware, there IS an alternative ending if you get 100% completion. Is it worth it? You decide.

Wow, that was awesome! Great job :D
Got 100%, 20 min to finish it.
"Lost" in 6 minutes. I'm playing again now. Absolutely love it so far! The atmosphere is amazing and the story is tight... have you read "The Cybergypsies" by any chance?
Brilliant! Excellent atmosphere and a great concept :)
I think I spent around 20 minutes playing it a couple of times. Thanks!
I lost again in about 10 minutes... but I lost the same way and it was a bit annoying because I thought I'd done every other option available so I didn't know what to do.
Despite that, I love the atmosphere and the presentation. The characters really feel like they have their own personalities and it's very immersive. Great job!
@Jigxor: Sorry to hear that, it's not meant to be that hard. Just a little tip that might help: when car0t leaves, some conversation areas are unavailable. You can get a < 100% completion win simply by going through the main topics left-to-right with two passes, although to get the full 100% you'll have to play with your ordering.
Better luck next time, if you choose to try it again. :)
Infreakingcredible. I love the typing sound effects. I love the look. I love the plot. The writing is excellent. I love that you don't actually have to type - clicking made it more fun. Such a well crafted character drama, with different personalities, some intrigue, betrayal... kitten smuggling... this game has everything. Top notch.
I lost - 93% after about 12 minutes.
I like everything about this game.
I ended sending to kill car0t, supously a bad ending... but it didn't feel so bad :)
One of my additions to the game would be to label the good vs. bad endings, heh. The car0t kill order is supposed to be the good ending, but it's not really "good". An ironic "congratulations, you won" could be chuckle-worthy, perhaps.
It's interesting, though... calling them "good" and "bad" endings kind of doesn't fit. They're more like "complete" vs. "incomplete" endings, regarding your investigation.
Glad to hear that it's being enjoyed! It was fun to make. :D
I know I'm commenting quite a few times on my own game, but I think I should mention something. You know you've gotten the "complete" ending when you learn Seeker's true name. So if you want to play it all the way through, now you know what you're looking for.
Amazing script!
The game is quite simple, but it's soul is a jewel!
Awesome job you should be proud!
No idea what I could've done differently to get 100%... still, really cool game
I am amazed at the way you pulled off this theme in an IRC game. In contrast, I made basically a formal, interactive story setting; here, we have dialogue, chat, etc.
I got 93% the first time (100% the second time), took about 5-10 minutes. Very riveting story and theme, and very authentic IRC look. Reminds me of my IRC days :)
Nice game, good writing! I lost once, but had to try it again to finish it. The typing animation and sound effect is a nice touch.
I played 3 times in 20 minutes, finally getting to 100%. Fun! I really liked it.
It's a great presentation, it really feels like IRC. I could definitely see this working for lots of different stories. The only problem is...I wasn't too impressed with THIS story. I got to a point (93% completion) where the only option left was to request a kill. What possible reason would I have for that? Just to advance the story? I decided to stop playing instead.

I'm interested in how long my game takes people to complete. If you notice this, could you take a note of when you started and finished, and include that in a comment along with the % complete you got? Thanks for satisfying a curious mind. :)
