Evolve Larry - gregdevice - 48 Hour Compo Entry
Games Finished! This is designed as a mobile game (iPhone or Android) so I added the frame into the web player. Enjoy and look forward to your feedback!
Evolve Larry Instructions------------------------------
A big accident in the lab has left Larry
devolved into his primordial state.
Help Larry get back to his former self
by feeding him what he needs to evolve!
His evolutionary tree is posted up on the
wall. Follow it carefully and only feed him
the correct food.
Unfortunately, everything in the lab has
exploded and is flying around the place!
You'll just have to grab it. Larry will eat
anything so you'll have to be careful what
he eats or he will devolve into nothing!
** use mouse to grab and drag items around as needed.

Try it again. Chrome had a problem with it so I moved the hosting.
Really slick presentation. For some reason I found the input to be off -- I kept clicking on things and finding it didn't register. That being said, I think I got the gist of things when it did work. It would be interesting to see what you could do to make the gameplay more interesting even as Larry evolves. For instance, maybe you could combine ingredients in some manner, or erect structures from ingredients...
Alot of the 'food' kept piling up and clicks were a bit off
but really fun
Really cool original artwork and sounds. It has an excellent funny quirky vibe to it. In terms of feedback, the game gets a little repetitive, if you could find some way of changing up the game play a bit it would be even more awesome!
i like this one, quite a good presentation, and also great colors. I had fun playing it. Although the clicks were a bit off I could finnish the game and I actually like how it becomes harder to avoid other foods when larry is bigger. Also like the sounds effect when larry eats :)
Really nice graphics, the game was pretty fun, and actually got hard near the end. One problem I had was that a lot of the food spawned in each other, and started spazzing out. Nice game though.
I enjoyed the game thoroughly! The graphics are really nice, and the game kept me entertained for quite a while. Perhaps you should balance the game a bit, though. Some stages are very easy, others are rather hard to do.
Pretty solid idea, although I feel like the gameplay needed to 'evolve' a little more as it went on.
It would probably be funner if you could actually destroy creatures that you dont want - if the view was zoomed out a bit more you could have like a trash can, or a Bunsen burner or something that you could throw unwanted creatures into.
Anyway, good work!
I love this. It would be great as a mobile game. Go for it!
Seems pretty cool, but gets pretty dull with how slowly the slider moves along. Frustrating to see your needed item fall into the screen and then just kinda tumble away.
YAY!!! I finally did it! Now my mouse hand is sore...
Nice sound effects and graphics! :) I gotta find a good vector graphics program so that i can learn to whip them off like i can pixel graphics...quick vector graphics always seem to look cooler than quick pixel graphics.
Well made! I like the humor and beat the game despite of simple and outdated game mechanic. Yeah, humor is really powerfull=)
Cool story! Progress seemed to go a bit slowly, and it was too hard to get rid of "bad" objects, but the art was nice and the concept was clear. Solid!
hard to play it with a mouse but i did it :)
i really like it (i love short games for LudumDare)
nice job!
Not enough room to fiddle around with all the crap flying around. I did like the art style and presentation.
That was really cool, but man it would be easier on a touch screen!
Graphics were great. Very neat idea. I like the thought of this on a touchpad as well.
Using touchpad isn't good idea. But i liked game. Great graphics, sound and theme!
Top-notch visuals and sound and great game mechanics. I would love to play this with a touch interface.
Really nice audio/video. Thematically is ok. I wish it were more interesting. It's so long and boring after few stages of evolution...
Nice little sweet game! I would be happy to play it on my iPhone :-)
I played it on a laptop (without real mouse) so it wasn't really fun, but I can see how it could be fun on a smartphone. I like the graphics and sounds too.
very nice! i think a bit more controlled progression and difficulty would make it feel more polished and sometimes stuff seemed to drop outside the view which adds to the same issue. but considering the time constraints it's still real cool.
I like the simplicity of this game. I think you did very well in setting a smaller scope to deal with and actually get it done by 48h. I think the game-play is a bit too easy and gets a bit repetitive after a while, but the cute graphics and the relaxing music make it worthwhile at least once. Good job!
Well, that was pretty fun. The game is looking professional. Good luck on iMobile!
The character looks great. You want him to evolve. The music is good and the rest of the game is also good looking. Playing the game was hard, the controls were not responding very well. Does it work better on a mobile device? It looks like a game you control by shaking your mobile.
