Evolution hates you - Danvil - 48 Hour Compo Entry
Web (Unity Webplayer) | Windows / Linux (Wine) | Source | Timelapse | Critter Generator
Try to survive as long as possible.
Kill plants and animals and collect green bubbles to regain health.
Avoid poisonous red bubbles!
Beware, the environment evolves!
If you are careless everyone will hate you.
*** Controls ***
Movement: point with mouse
Attack: left mouse button or space
Sprint: shift key
My game plays around with the evolutionary pressure you apply on your environment. If you are too greedy and extinguish all the yummy animals and plants you will soon find yourself in a hazardous environment and die.
>>> Also: try out the critter generator! It was created after the compo. <<<

Nice! Would be cool to add a few more traits that are controlled by genetics, and to have a better way of controlling the populations, I tried to kill poisonous species to encourage more yummy species but always ended up running into the poison they dropped after killing them, maybe a ranged attack or just a way to avoid moving forward right after attacking.
Really like that graphic style and the humourous little comments the creatures make as they wander around.
Pretty cool looking game. It kinda reminds me of the microbe stage in Spore.
Pretty cool! Looks very nice, though my colourblindness didn't help me I fear
fun game :D
don't trust the guy who says "hug me"
I hugged him and now I'm dead.
This must be the most addicting game I've played yet! I have rarely seen such real evolving creatures in a game. It plays like a sandbox game. The possibility to "farm" species keeps me coming back for more. However it's very difficult to avoid the red dots so I keep dying again and again.
@tompudding: I have changed the poison bubble model. Perhaps it is a bit easier to distinguish them from health bubbles now :)
I didn't really understand why things happen as they do in this game.
Why do some animals like me, and some hate me.
Why are some plants tasty and some poisonous.
In general what makes things evolve like they do.
But the graphics are really nice, and the concept is definitely cool and matching the theme.
@brother.byto: "What makes things evolve like they do?" - Like with real evolution it is a) randomness and b) selection through pressure applied by in general the environment and in my game by the you - the player.
I liked the idea but found it a bit difficult when touching anything seemed to hurt me and it was difficult to time my attacks. Great graphics though and I like the captions that appear above the creatures. Speech/thought bubbles was something I wanted to have in my own entry if there had been more time.
The evolving creature graphics are really good. The other traits are good with the tasty and the poisonous creatures. The comments by the creatures add a bit of humour.

Would be better if the attack didn't require a mouse click, and you could just skewer things automatically. Good otherwise!
