Robo[R]Evolution - NateNaterson - Jam Entry
Windows (1.0) | Windows (1.1) - Contains Bugfixes!
>The age of man has ended. Out in the bleak sits the
heart of the Machine, guarded by the whispering torrents of
sand. Here the war begins anew, a plot hatched by the lords
of this castle. A new breed of death is forged, something
smarter than its predecessors, something efficient. Adaptable.
>The Men know, and they flock to the heart. They come in
their caravans, in their flying machines, from near and
from far. Their fear compels them in vain; they know they
will not be returning to their ravaged homes. The reaper
is something they dare not fight, they've watched him
cradle the world in his arms.
>They too, will be touched by him tonight; they march to
their ends with this truth in their minds. They can not
stop the revolution, and they will be replaced.
>This will be our finest hour. We are the rEvolution.

Since I was running out of time, SOME features are missing (mainly the ending) so I'll be putting out a content update in a few weeks with cool new stuff! Also there's a mini-update with some bugfixes, I highly recommend playing it instead of 1.0!
CHANGELOG for 1.1:
-Fixed Story Advancing being WAY too slow (it advances every 10 waves)
-Fixed Battery Max Health being too high
-Implemented Shot Type upgrades every 10 waves not working
-Increased spread and patterns of later Shot Types
-Fixed default turrets not showing their particle effect
-Fixed Super Fillups giving INSANE amounts of Energy to turrets. (still might not work perfectly)
-Made turrets a bit more balanced by adjusting their energy amounts + firespeed
-Fixed Enemy progression
-Reduced amount of turrets given between waves
-You now start with two turrets again.
-Two regular turrets spawn naturally on the board now, to give the player a headstart
-Fixed crash upon item menu appearing if the player has maxed out stats
-If the player has maxed out stats, a 2nd action item becomes available instead of a stat item
-”Firepower” stat now works as it should
-Shots become larger as Firepower increases
-Adjusted enemy health
-Lowered maximum stats
-Added “Re-Roll” to Item Menu. lets you change the items available to you (you start with three)
-You get one bonus re-roll per evolution stage
-Rocket explosions are more dramatic
-Fixed depth issue with generator

Excellent game! Very fun to play, although I think turrets are a little too rare, only had two on the first round with heavy soldiers, got owned D:
Yeah I'll be working on a small update to balance the difficulty a bit. (of course version 1.0 will still be available since the admins of the site get a little picky about updating games) Glad you enjoyed it so far though! :)
Great game, tower defense games are always fun in my book, I like that your not just placing the turrets it adds a nice twist to the classic TD games.
Fun game to play, and it's actually not too repetitive (which I first thought it might be). Audio isn't intrusive and makes the game feel relaxing, and I do like the evolution side of it (evolving the player) which makes it more than just another tower defense game.
Does the game have dependencies on installed libraries, game engines or similar? I keep getting 'Unexpected error occurred when running the game.' System is Win7 64bit and reasonably fresh installation, e.g. 2 weeks old.
Very solid tower defense! The visuals are very impressive. I just missed more turrets. Good job!
Really solid tower defense game. Graphics, sound were very well done. Thought the intro text went on a little long, but liked the style and presentation. Great work on this!
That was really fun! You had me for several hours there. The gameplay is really solid, and I liked the durability on the turrets; that's something I've never seen done before. I didn't like that the second shot alternated randomly from side to side, it wasn't possible to tell what enemies were going to take the middle path, and that I couldn't figure out how the enemy damage system worked; for game based on strategy it's hard to work with random things. That being said, the graphics were very good and the music sealed the deal. Overall, very good job!
Well done game man, really had alot of fun playing it thru, made it to wave 9, really impressive what people are capable of in 3 days. the graphics were excellent, and your mechanic was executed flawlessly.
Wow, great job Nate! This game is really fun and well polished, and the music is catchy too.
Very cool intro narrative, and I loved the graphics and music. I found the game didn't progress as quickly as I thought it would, I the second time around, I wish I could have skipped through the the intro text. All around a fun game! :)
@whilefun: You can skip the intro text actually! Press Enter. The "EVOLUTION.EXE" text cannot, however (but it's only like, 5 seconds long and adds a bit of a break in the gameplay to add tension.. so I think it's needed.)
@RB100: Thank you so much!
I liked the music, I haven't played 1.1 yet, but seems like a promising game.
I just can't stop playing!
I expect to see great things form you!
Awesome little game, I agree the turrets were a little rare and the waves just take soooo long. Great music, simple and very effective. Good job all round.
haha, the link above makes it look like the game is meant for windows 1.0 I'll give it a try anyway ;)

I'm not good at tower defense, so didn't get beyond wave 4. I think you did a lot of work and its a nice game. But I was totally blown away by the music: The White Stripes could have made that. That is music with attitude!
Also liked the retro intro, but thats because I grew up with a Commodore 64.
Oh yeah: the autosave suggestion!
Excellent graphics! It all looks and sounds very professional, especially the intro and story. However it seems quite stingy with the number of turrets you get - I got to wave 7 and didn't have nearly enough firepower to defend the battery.

For the record I know about MOST bugs and I'll be releasing a bugfix in a day or two! Go ahead and report any you find and I'll make sure I include those.
