Evolution Through Alchemy - D3zmodos - 48 Hour Compo Entry
Yay my first ludum dare entry! (Turned out prettier than I first imagined...but very different in terms of gameplay).
My game is about the evolution of elements! You start out as Copper and get bigger and bigger until you are gold (and you win)! There's a long story that you can skip, in the menu if you want to read up about how this all came to be.
Controls (as seen in-game):
WASD to move
R to reload (this is important, remember to reload)
Left Mouse to shoot
Lastly I must mention 2 important things:
1)This is best played on the webplayer, the windows/mac standalone will work but the menu won't be centred and the images will be stretched...a lot (especially if you play fullscreen)
2) I must apologize and warn you of the music, at the start there is a bit of distortion which sounds bad and is the unfortunate result of the conversion from *.wav to *.ogg (which reduced the filesize from 8mb to +-350kb)
Have fun!

Got to Level 5 and it was a tad too hard. It's a fun simple game. I like that it's not actively regulated on how many shots you have available at a time, but if you just let loose you'll have problems and be limited.
everchanger: I was somewhat tempted to make reloading entirely automatic as the restriction is really on the fact that you have to reload, not on remembering to tell it to reload.
That's weird about the webplayer though, it works for me... anybody else's webplayer not working?
Very nice game! Good graphics, and the music fit well with the game.
Sometimes you get "Download Unity Webplayer" repeatedly because your browser wants your approval before running the webplayer from some links. Check for security notifications, for instance the shield icon that pops up to the right of the address in Chrome.
Also... nice arena shooter. Last level was a doozy for a while, but it's quick to restart which lessens the frustration factor. Sadly, can't give you many points on the use of theme.
It was a nice and simple game. Managing the bullets you have left made the game harder and more challenging. Although, I think it would be nice if the evolution aspect of the game is more than the name and appearance changing. Good work!
Ok, I accept it: I can pass level 5 XD! The game is great but I think it's too easy before level 5... and then quite impossible (but maybe it's only I'm bad). BTW, I recommend you to add some powerups: shield, double fire and something like that. Good job ;)
Level 5 is hard but I finished it with a bit of luck. The graphics were nice and the music was also pretty great. What did you make the music with?
Thanks to KhaoTom for solving the web player problem that prevented me from playing earlier.
If you take the S out of https, you won't get the "Install Unity Player" error.
Love the graphics. The lights over the clouds are a nice touch. I finally beat the game and am now collecting all the copper I can find ;) Also love the text in your game. Was stuck on last level for some time. Would have been cool to get better weapons to take on the later levels maybe. Nice work.

Seems to be some error with the web version of this game, the canvas only displays the "Download Unity Webplayer" even after downloading it.
I also tried the windows version, and I like it! The reload button gets annoying after a bit though, having an auto reload might have been a good option? Otherwise really pretty, I'm a sucker for lights!
