Ludum Dare 23
April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
Rambros - Black Ships Fill the Sky - Jam Entry
Somewhere, somehow, someone is gonna pay!
A game about revenge, justice and the United States of Bromerica.
May include rocket jumping.
Best Played with 2 XBox Controllers (Bros shouldn't play alone, though they can).
We got a fair bit done for Ludum Dare. It was a totally brotastic weekend. Though we couldn't finish it (or get the theme in). As soon as we can we'll be rectifying that.
Enjoy!!!

The graphics are AMAZING, and the whole presentation is really polished. I had a lot of fun playing this game and I hope you improve it, add some more levels, and make it a full game!
I agree with Zillix - the controls were weird. I also played by myself with an xbox controller. A definitely should have been jump! And I found it weird how I had to press a button to spawn as well.
Overall - Awesome game. Great job!
It certainly looks and feels awesome, but is there any point to the game? Watching the screenshot here and in your journal I'm not sure if I have the right version. I killed all the guys and that was it, nothing happened. Don't get me wrong - it's great, but your entry's description and screenshot suggest that there's more content than what I've seen.
Hey, thanks for the feedback. I've fixed the links now (I had some blank links up because I wasn't sure if I could edit this page and I was exhausted).
We didn't finish the game sadly (that's why there is no point or theme tie in).
But we're going to fix that this next weekend hopefully.
Beautiful color palette and good sound effects. Destroy the ground is a great detail.
Since I'm a fan of suicide party bros, I was looking forward to your next game. Realization is amazing again, destruction of tile was ambitious and climbing walls with knives is epic. Hope you turn it in a full game, there's clearly potential for awesomeness.
Awesome overall game. I love that you can destroy the environment, but it can also be a pain if you destroy parts of the level and then can't access certain areas after you die.
Absolutely great! Innovative gameplay, hilarious mood, art and sound fit perfectly... You need to finish this game! :D I don't understand why this entry has so few comments...
B R O W E S O M E ! I really enjoyed your game and i need you to finish it, publish it on Steam and take my money !
Smart gameplay, so orgasmic to gank enemies by destroying walls. Nice job bros !
This. Was. AWSOME
The entire aethetic is brilliant. Gameplay feels punchy, and I like the sorta-non-linearity of the levels.
Checkpointing was a bit harsh, though.
Would love to see a full version of this. Love the random guys with different weapons, would have been great if they all had a unique secondary/grenade of some kind too. Great stuff!
Wow that game was awesome! Excellent graphics and music.
The whole thing feels really well put together.
I did manage to get stuck in the walls sometimes though, especially when trying to climb.
More checkpoints would definitely help as you die really easily.
Runs well in Wine, although my xbox controller didn't work.
Fantastic job, well done!
Excellent game! One of the best this Ludum Dare. Please expand it afterwards.
The different characters were REALLY fun. Few things are better than variety in what would otherwise be a normal shoot em up. I think that having them be randomly selected other than letting you pick was a good choice too - makes them seem more valuable. I only had one major gripe: everyone loves terrain destruction, but it allows you to get yourself into a jam. If you accidentally blow away a lot of the next area and create an impassable pit, then you're stuck (as far as I can tell). Since it's fun to blow stuff up, this happens a lot.
Great graphics and music though. Nice work!
Amazing graphics, great audio and fun to play. I want to play the finished version!
(Wait, Rambros is a another game. you stole it's name.)
Hum, somewhat fun game.
Love the art, the humourous characters and their unique weapons, and the feel of this game.
The destructible environment, while it adds some 'replayability' and strategy, it did occasionally mean I'd get stuck or find it difficult to approach some enemies; given the theme, I thought I'd be the one-man army taking down waves of enemies, but sometimes it was the opposite! :D
Awesome game! The destructible terrain is great, all the weapons felt powerful, and the graphics are incredible. I really do wish there was more than just the one level, with no ending, though :P
I would play more of this. I would play it all day.
Really love the graphics and the feel of some of the controls, though would have killed to be able to aim my gun somewhat instead of just straight. Still, this has serious potential!
Very awesome, loved the music, though the collision with walls is a little glitchy, I kept getting stuck and trying to jump out led me straight to a pit. Still, very fun and I love the destructible environments and the different characters. Great job guys.
This is just a rip off of http://www.indiegogo.com/RamBros-Indie-Game
Oh noes!
You used the same title as another completely different game.
Since there no possible way two people could come up with such a non-obvious combination of "Bros" and "Rambo" independently I am compelled to denounce you, sirs, as thieves and scoundrels!
Seriously though, awesome job. I'd love to see an expanded version of this.
Love this. I wish there was a win condition, but it's supremely fun and the graphics and audio are top notch. My favorite was the deformable ground and how I could dig through it to get around enemies or kill them in unexpected ways.
This is superb work! The graphics are to-die-for, as is the audio evoking real old-school arcade feel. The characterisation is really good and there is humour in the animations and effects. The destructible terrain was a really nice addition, but what sold it for me was a surprise rocket jump with Dolph(?), simply suberb, easily one of the best I've played, thank you!
The graphics were the best part of this game! Really nice. The audio was strong too. The destructible ground was a fun gameplay element. I loved the selection of different characters, and the wall climbing. The actual game was a big frustrating, I kept getting shot by enemies I couldn't see and getting hit when it looked like I hadn't been hit. Also the game was running really choppy so I was getting killed because of the refresh sometimes.
Hey, thank you everyone for playing!!!!
We are in fact continuing working on it... I feel bad now because I've been so busy with that I didn't get to rate anyone else (I'm going to play them anyway as soon as I can).
Turned out there is another game in development called "Rambros". We were super bummed to discover this, but it looks like an awesome game, check it out.
We're renaming the project "Bro Force". We'll have a build out in a few days (hopefully). The game now actually has a win condition :)
An EXTREMELY satisfying game to play, regardless of non-theme/non-winstate.
Most definitely get this to a publishable state. I'd happily pay, if not through the nose then through one of my nostrils for it.
Well done, great graphic,s great feel great humour.

Nice! That was a fun and pretty experience. Liked the different characters, too.
I played by myself with an xbox controller- thought it was strange that jump was Y instead of A.
I played the WindowsEnhanced version, since the Windows link didn't work. Though, the game didn't entirely match the screenshot, so maybe it wasn't the correct version?
