Tiny Wor ds - BNeutral - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Getting some stuff to work was quite troublesome because of security restrictions, I hope you guys can enjoy it.

I hope the online version doesn't die to high traffic despite the little weight of the game.

Sorry about the file host for standalone versions and source, but I'm in a rush and most of the good ones went under after the Megaupload thing.

PS: The source requires Flixel + Flixel power tools to compile.

Edit: Fixed a bug that allowed play with less than 100 tweets.
Edit2: Fixed a bug with connection timeouts and uploaded to newgrounds.

    Nice idea.
It would be cool hashtag search was hard-coded by you and game would recognise some keywords, like materials for platforms.
So if someone would write a tweet "#tinywords a bouncing platform with a coin", keywords being "bouncing" and "coin" game would display, well, a more bouncing platform with a coin on it.

    Oh, wow. Clever.

I wish my jump went just a bit higher, or that people would post shorter tweets(!) :/

Starting to get the hang of it now. :) The secret is in timing the double jumps.

This is completely awesome. Love the concept, love the execution. It get pretty much impossible for me around the 2500-characters left (due to # of birds, lightness of my character). Wish I could have seen what happens when you get to freedom.

    Woah! That's some crazy integration!
Aside from the novelty of jumping on twitter feeds, the gameplay of climbing up a super-long tower is decently fun, though I feel like it drags on without any late-game twists. I spent a lot of time misjudging a double-jump, getting shunted against the wall and then falling four blocks!

Neat usage of twitter feeds, diggin' the aesthetics...

Interesting use of outside media. The word "blah" brought up a couple of interesting messages. The jumping got a really repetitive after a while. :x

It's a cool idea, but the gameplay gets a bit repetetive quickly. Nice graphics and solid entry.

A fun way to read random tweets.

Wow, great idea! It got a bit too hard and I got a bit too impatient towards the end, but I really liked it. It probably didn't help that I tried to read the tweets as I went.

Fabulous! And very creative! I had wanted to somehow integrate twitter into my game, but you did it so wonderfully! Thanks for sharing! Bookmarking for later inspiration...

It was a pretty funny game if you searched for "Kanye".

Haha, simple mechanics but very original concept :-)

I really liked the idea! It gets quite challenging later on, but it's fun to see the new messages as they appear. I think with a little polish, such as adding a proper character and some platforming elements, could turn this into something really fun.
