Ludum Dare 23
April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
Tiny Garden - Exorph - 48 Hour Compo Entry
Miniature god sim.
Try to balance the world for as long as possible!
Playing the web version can be annoying since the game uses the right mouse button and I didn't realize that would be a problem until it was too late.

Thanks. I agree about the naming. The idea was that you were only supposed to create like... 8 species during an entire game, but thanks to the lack of balance it's a much better idea to just spam new plants an animals constantly.
Amazing idea. You should really make a real game from that idea, it will be great! Well Done :-)
Ver nice game. I think you should continue to expand on it. I have to agree with the naming... I'd rather the system simply generate random names for me.
Very good (I was considering something like this too, so it MUST be good idea :D).
But there are few buts - naming is annoying, way to win is spam as much stuff as you can, it lacks gameplay a bit later, with nothing much to do. Anyway, rating high... are you going to work more on this? It reminds me good old simearth :)
I got 20 points! Then... I don't know how I lost balance :(
I guess something died? Good ideas and stuff though. Seeing the plants you made spread about is pretty nice :)
Interesting concept and well executed. I had problems trying to understand when is and when is not unbalanced but overall nice game =).
I liked the idea, though the web player is difficult (as you mention).
Great stuff! Really liked your concept. I agree with what the other commenters said (naming things, lacking in info), but then you only had 48 hours so...! I enjoyed it and think you've done a good job. Will you develop it further?
I loved watching the flowers and trees. I liked naming my first species. After I named my fifth species, I was consistently naming omnivores "JOJOJOJOJO". I would like to watch a world out of balance naturally obliterate itself, without being told that I lost; I think a lot of the fun of this kind of game is observing and learning from the interactions. It would be great if the player had some (obvious) agency in choosing the type of animal / plant, too.
Thanks for all the support!
I'd love to keep working on it, but I'm not sure where I'll find the time. Maybe as a shorter one month project or something. I have a bunch of ideas on how to make it much, much better. :)
i didn't really get the point what my goal is, but i loved the concept.
Really cool to see your world growing, maybe i will do a Sim for my next game :)
good job!
I like it. But I get a bit bored when I had all done and I didn´t know what do the next step.
Good job!
Cool idea! I like the whole balance thing. Also like the randomness.

This has some great potential for procedural gameplay. Nice work!
The naming-of-things gets quickly repetitive, though. I'd suggest having a name already in place, which would reduce friction dramatically.
