Archipelago - scottychips - 48 Hour Compo Entry
Archipelago is a simple village building game where you help villagers gather resources to build homes. The world is procedurally generated as a string of islands. If you grow your village to 12 villagers, you win!
==Instructions==
*WASD to move, mouse to look
*Click water tiles to convert them into land tiles to allow villagers to reach other islands.
*Villagers will gather either wood or stone and deliver it back at the main camp.
*When the villagers have collected at least 1 stone and 1 wood, hit B and switch to build mode. You can then click on a land tile to place a house, earning you another villager. Hit B again to switch back to terraforming.
Known issues:
*Sometimes you can get stuck with a tiny island with no resources and the villager wont do anything. Try connecting it to another island.
*There can potentially be performance issues when there are many villagers around.
*Day night system is pretty wonky.
*Never really got to implement much of an end game.

Nice, i can see where you got inspiration when it comes to the visuals :P
Well I really like the art by Dave Williamson in Hack Slash Loot and obviously minecraft and some other indie games were inspirations.
Nice work. With some more things to do and hazards for the villagers (maybe if you could delete ground too, and had to block monsters' paths or something) and such it could be the base for a pretty decent god game :D
Good audio and visuals. The controls seemed a little clunky; maybe you would be better off with more RTS-style controls? This definitely looks like it has good potential once you add some more things to do though.
Alot of potential. this could be good with further development!
Fun concept and a nice style to it. Adding in an antagonist (or even having natural disasters forcing the player and villagers to fix the land) would be great.
Scary control system =S. Otherwise nicely done, needs a few more features and it could be a fun game.
Cool. This has a LOT of potential. It could be great if you fixed a few things: it was a little hard to move for one--pressing forward should probably move you forward but at the same height above the ground, not straight into the ground.
Really cool game, the startup is long-ish and i think the senstivity was too big, was there a way i could lower it?
Yes, agree with the comments above! Controlling is really hard and clumsy, but the whole idea is nice, and it really gets interesting once there are several little fellas moving around!
This is a nice little concept, but the controls are really difficult to use. Also for some reason when ever I tried to open it with Google Chrome my browser crashed, I had to run it in Firefox.
Great start. I'm not a huge fan of minecraft derivations, but this shows some real potential given some more features and some polish.
Pretty good! There may not be a whole lot to it yet, but you've got the start of a interesting concept / engine. I'd like to see where this goes!
great little game - reminded me of populous
heck, I even want to play populous now because of your game
well done :D
Nice concept. Sound effects were good, music got a bit annoying after 10 minutes ;)
Cool game overall.
Urk. the day/night made me feel ill :(
And the music didnt help.
Otherwise, a great start to a game. More things to do (and some control of what is done) would be good.
