Stage 2 Chaos - skyboy49707 - 48 Hour Compo Entry
WASD or arrow keys to move. H to heal health if you have health potions, M to heal mana if you have mana potions.
1 to use the mana to health skill if you have it.
2 to use the health to mana skill if you have it.
If a world is generated in such a way that you are stuck, press R to generate a new one. And if you want press N to skip the cutscenes.
This was a bit rushed, so the different classes don't do anything. And I'm not sure how possible this is, but have fun anyways!
I am planing on continuing to work on this and I have a lot of ideas for it. Some of my ideas are a more friendly interface, better level generation, different types of maps, more classes (and they would be played differently), and randomly generated dungeons. I hope to rewrite this in java so that it will run on more platforms.

Damn - I wanted to play this game - the lighting looks really nice. I'm on a mac though :: @gregdevice - I think it's the same tileset, that's why.
nice game. the too much randomness makes it a bit unbalance d I think. also managing the pickups is rather difficult because I cant view what I have, or throw them away if I find sth better. Good job tho.
Really enjoyed playing this, although it was a bit hard to get into at first. Would love to see it balanced & polished, feels like it has potential :)
I really dig how this kind of turns the roguelike idea into a puzzle what with being able to explore mostly everything from the start and you're trying to judge what to attack when and when to use your potions... not sure that's what you were going for but I enjoy that aspect of it :)
I'm not sure this game is following rule 2 of the compo. "All game code and content must be created within the 48 hours." I recognize the characters from http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=8970.0
Nice little game! Really looks like Desktop Dungeons, but without the 'exploration restores HP' part. This creates a dominant strategy of exploring the whole map and collecting everything useful before engaging combat, which reduces the level of meaninful decisions considerably. However I do appreciate a variation of DD with less focus on that very peculiar mechanic and balancing it on the more traditional side. I'd love to see this one a little more polished and with more content, I love this type of game!
@Maato Yea I did use the player sprites from that, and a couple of the enemy sprites too, everything else I made. This game is inspired by Legends of yore, desktop dungeons and rogue and I do plan on working on it more. I was very rushed so there was little time for balancing it/adding content/making a little tutorial or something. Also for the people with macs I also have a mac but have only had it for a month, so I made this for windows because that is what I know. I am going to try and rewrite this in java and then it should work on everything.
First time through I died on the second mob. Seems a bit too random at the moment. Also without the mobs moving I could just go through most of the level picking up what I wanted. Other than that I did enjoy playing this game. The fog of war/lighting thing was quite cool and made me want to explore what I couldn't see in the level. Could be great with a bit more work.
It ran painfully slow in wine, put playable. Nice game though.
I just played the soldier but the game is a bit easy with these passive mobs.
Had fun overall!
This is really fun! :D I actually very much liked that you couldn't throw items away, so you'd have to think about what to pick up and be more pressed to experiment with different 'builds'.
It took me quite a few tries to beat the game, and only two of those were because the level generator messed up and got me stuck. The difficulty is nice.
The graphics are ok, could have used more sound effects though. The lack of music doesn't bother me that much since I like playing my own music anyway, but it still would have been nice.
But overall it's a really good game!
A Desktop Dungeons clone :)
I'm not going to vote Graphics, since you reused existing art. Da Rules, man!
Other than that, quite nice. The combat seems a bit too random, I picked up every extra I could get to, then started to attack all level 1 monsters and got killed by the last of them.
Pretty good! Definitely see the Legends of Yore inspiration (which isn't a bad thing; I think it's good to be inspired by things! I tried picking up the powerups, but it seemed like once you had one equipped in that slot, you couldn't swap it out with another? Or maybe it did, and I just didn't notice it. Also, the enemies got pretty hard pretty fast! Perhaps it could respawn some lower level enemies if you scroll off the screen? This way you can go back and keep increasing your level until you can take on the higher level enemies. Anyhoo, good game! Thanks for sharing!
Pretty fun game, very much like Desktop Dungeons. I liked the lighting effects, and the random elements. Good job!
Sorry, can't play Windows-only games this time, but I'll try to have something worked out for next LD!
Cool! And congrats on being the 100th game I play. I'm a sucker for a randomly generated adventure!
:)
Do I perhaps recognize those hero graphics from somewhere...?
