We almost did an ant game too! I like the fact that you worry about a brain damaged buddy! :P
Couldn't really get attacking to work(?).
The graphics and concept are good enough, but it is clear the game is not quite fully formed here.
But it is a very nice effort considering you wrote it from scratch.
Gnx, ram into things as the battle ant and spit poison as the poison ant :)
Wasn't able to win at all, however, the other sides of the game are quite nice. I didn't like the respawn system, which made the whole game a lot difficultier.
Controls were difficult to get used to. The theme fit well. I couldn't figure combat out, but the beetles kept on dying.
I like it. I wish my other ant wouldn't block my shots, but other than that pretty fun concept.
The controls are a bit difficult to master due to the way you get stuck at walls --- but the game has some very neat concepts.
It's a bit hard.

I thought your game fit the theme of this Ludum Dare very well with the characters being recognizable as one of the smallest insects that are also commonly known. I also thought that you set the mood pretty good with the graphics. Though the graphics are not great, they get the job done, and it's easy to recognize what they represent.
Perhaps I just wasn't very good at your game, but I thought that playing it was pretty frustrating. The most frustrating part of it was when a beetle would randomly be generated right next to the ant I wasn't currently controlling and killing it before I even realized what was going on making me start from the beginning again. The AI of the ants not being used is good though they did have their moments of being stuck on a wall.
I thought that your game was too difficult at times. For example, if I run into a group of beetles, there's very little chance of me surviving unless a bunch of them get stuck on a wall. It seemed like after killing a group, more would suddenly spawn right next to me and kill me. It would be nice if there was either less spawning, or perhaps they could spawn a ways off from where the ants currently are. Those deaths seem harsh and unneeded.
Also, it took quite a few deaths to realize the tan ant's space ability could be used as an attack and isn't just a speed boost. It would've been nice to have seen that mentioned in your controls section above.
I would say you've got a good start to a game though. Fix a few of the annoyances and you've got a pretty good game. Keep up the good work!
