Ludum Dare 23

Crash Effect - koredozo - 48 Hour Compo Entry
An arcade-style game where you ram spaceships within a tiny force field. This is my first LD48 entry, so it's quite basic.
Requires LOVE 0.8. http://love2d.org/
LOVE files are ZIP files. Please open CrashEffect.love in your archiver to access the source code and data files.
Addendum- I somehow introduced a bug at the last minute that prevented enemies from shooting at you. I don't want to break the rules, but if you'd like the game to be even harder, get the non-compo bugfix here: http://ecliss.net/compos/CrashEffect2.love

Fun! I had to update love, but then it worked great. I like the gravity effect -- i'm assuming the blue dot is supposed to be a planet? Anyway, amusing story bits, cool music, fun gameplay. Well done.
"Error
main.lua:65: Cannot create canvas: Not supported by your OpenGL implementation"
Probably a problem on my end
I've only tested the game on Windows, but that sounds like a problem with LOVE in general (canvases are a pretty basic feature.) You might try compiling LOVE from scratch if you have the means. Or the usual 'upgrade your drivers' advice.
Nice little space game. Love the Mass Effect parody (still can't get over the part 3 ending...). Really hard to control though. Would be cool if you could see in which direction your thruster fires at the moment.
I get a game-breaking error:
main.lua:65: Cannot create canvas: Not supported by your OpenGL implementation
***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***
When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.
Please consider making a browser game next time.
After fruitlessly researching how to avoid that error without a performance hit, I'm considering it.
LOVE was fun to learn and use, but I'm surprised it doesn't have a software fallback for offscreen rendering.
Quick and simple fun! The music and the graphics were entertaining, and although it was simple, the main mechanic worked well and controls weren't terrible (although if speed went past some threshold it got really hard to maneuver my ship). Good job!
it's a tough sell to install another program to run your program, though now i'm curious what 'love' is. which sounds funny as i read it.
I thought this was pretty fun little game. I had a little trouble controlling the rotation of the ship (it seemed to go too fast for me) but good job!
It's a little annoying having to download love to be able to play this... some other love games package them as runnable applications, which are great... maybe try and do that next time? Or preferably a web version?
Really like the music and sound effects on this one.
The game mechanic feels original and rather fun.
I found it a bit hard to get what the "rules" for your physics were, so maybe some improvement required there.
The little added story bits did a lot here too.
Who knew crashing could be so hard.
At least that was my initial reaction to this game.
Once I got the hang of it, it got pretty dull.
But it's nicely presented, has graphics and sound effects. What more can you ask for? More than one enemy at a time perhaps.
Really fun actually. The game would lag and audio would cut when i hit the edge
It's fun to play on the first 5-10 minutes. Maybe adding more things to hit( or avoid ) would make the game lifespan longer.
can't test, love2d uses some deps i would have to downgrade a good portion of my system to install. If you could in the future please pack the love interpreter in the download so it can be played without directly installing love, that helps a lot too since if you install 0.8 you can't play any of the games from people who used 0.7.2. Just look for the love entries in this LD and you'll see a few people who did that properly for linux/windows/mac

Love me some love2d gaming. Man, this game is hard!
