Ludum Dare 23

Too Big For This World - Hallway - 48 Hour Compo Entry
Windows(exe) | Windows(Installer) | Source | Timelapse
My first attempt at Ludum Dare. I spent too much time fixing my engine so the game is kind of basic, there are no levels it is just a go as far as you can (distance tracked in top right). Difficulty increases as you get further.
Instead of a tiny planet, its a world where everything is tiny. The tiny inhabitants of the planet (apart from some allies) try to kill you because they think you (being normal sized) are a monster.
If you dont have .NET or XNA the exe version wont work. Either use the installer version or download them here:

.Net - http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=17113
Thank you for checking out my game and I hope it was worth it.

Pretty satisfying to smash the tanks and kick people out of the way. It's a little weird when you stand still (as the clouds move but the grass has no indication of movement), but it was fun. And I love how happy all the little fellas are!
Pretty fun for a simple game. Graphics were a little bleh.
Thanks for the comments!
Meedoc: Ya, I was never sure if health regen was helpful to the game or not.
Sodaware: I agree, I had planned to add grass or trees to the background to give a better sense of movement, ran short on time though.
The physics on the balls gives it a cool sense of randomness. Nice premise too.
Definitely greater than the sum of its parts. I had fun with it. =)
Bouncing on tanks feels amazing. Not sure I quite figured out how to effectively use the allies though.
A little limited but enjoyable nonetheless.
I had a lot of fun with this! It's admittedly a bit clunky and death seems like an eventuality rather than a failure, but at some point while I was kicking my 20th swordsman in a row I realized I was really enjoying myself :).
Nice work!
This was quite fun for a simple game. I really liked the breaking apart effect on the blimps and tanks.
I thought having the friendly rocket launcher guys worked really well. The best strategy I found was to use them to take out the other rocket launcher guys and use the spaceman to destroy the blimps and tanks (if you tried to jump on the rocket launcher guys you would get hurt by the sword guys and if you ran at them you would get shot, so best to just go back and let the green guys do the work :)).
I managed to get over 17000 feet :)
Not bad! I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but punting guys around was surprisingly satisfying. xD I like how the wreckage of vehicles does collateral damage.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm hoping for the next Ludum I will have a bit more experience and can make something a bit more in depth.
Jerm: That is the strategy I tend to use if there are more than a few of the rocket guys, I think my highest was about 28k.
I created a timelapse video in case anyone is interested.

***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***
When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.
Please consider making a browser game next time.
Sorry about that. XNA is the only game programming framework I have any experience with at the moment.
Hah, kicking little people is surprisingly satisfying, nice job.
Awesome, good game. I only managed to get 6654 feet but oh well, it was good fun!
There is nothing more fun than headbutting blimps! Great job!
Jumping on tanks and baddies is always fun... graphics need work but well done overall it works!
Graphics maybe need a little more work for my taste, but it's fun anyway! Good job!
Unfortunately cannot play, don't have access to windows box.
HTML5 :)

Simple but fun enough. I just think that the health regeneration should not be. If you take your time, your allies protect you and you can easily go really far! Good job anyway!
