Shell - aeveis - Jam Entry

prototype on the theme of alone.

Ideally, you could collect the green lights. These represent the positive experiences in life. The light you control grows bigger. However there are also red lights perhaps representing bad experiences. When you collect these, they begin to form a shell around your light and your light becomes smaller. This makes it easier to block and avoid any kind of experience. As you get bigger, it becomes harder to avoid other lights. If you collect too many red lights, you disappear. If you form the total shell, you cut yourself off from the world. If you get big enough, you can break out of your shell. Otherwise, you just run out of time.

While a little abstract it's an interesting concept. It's not very clear what happened when you lose because of a time elapse though. The comment seemed kind of negative but not "you lose" negative. I didn't know I should try again until I reread your intro text.

In any case it is an interesting mechanic and (with your text considered) a really great use of the theme. Keep working on this, it has potential beyond Ludum Dare if you want it to!

Without your explanation, I would have thought your game is good. Now I think it's awesome! I love abstract games, conveying messages with their mechanics...

Good stuff, nice to see people working on mechanics and not another platformer.

I had to read the text to understand what was going on. Actually, I though that being small and having a complete shell was the good thing to do! Maybe it reflects my way of living... Anyway, well done!

I really like this idea, even though I'm not fond of the interface. Cool take on the theme.
