    The Wizard Who Stumbled - Myyyvothrr - 48 Hour Compo Entry

    "You are an old wizard. One day you stumbled and accidentally killed everyone...
    But now they are returning as dumb zombies and are annoying you.
    Kill them all again, so you can be alone!"

    My first Ludum Dare :) This game is a 2d top-down shooter. Made with FlashPunk, AS3, FlashDevelop, Pro Motion and Photoshop Elements. Thank you for playing!

    ooooooo, i like the art. i killed quite a few zombies, but i wish i could of had had a few more lives. why did you choose to only give us 2?

    Glad you like the graphics :)
    You do start with 5 lives, but the zombies are placed randomly, so if you are unlucky they will hit you very quick. Reload the page and try again.

    The art looks good but it's sometimes hard to recognize zombies on ground tiles. Are you really supposed to kill 250 zombies in the game? Seems quite tedious.

    Yes, I know. There is a lot I could have made better, but I sadly ran out of time... Learned a lot for next LD though ;)

    There are too many zombies for me to kill and I gave up. The art style is... unique? Sometimes I had some difficulty in seeing the zombies in such an environment. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling the "mood" of being alone with so many zombies swarming the place.

    There's too many zombies to kill and it's usually difficult to recognize different sprites in the game. I've encountered some collision problems (I think due to fireballs having the width of a map tile, which is an issue when trying to shoot through 1-tile-width path), but the game does feel playable. Didn't have the time to kill all of the zombies, though. There isn't much connection to the theme, aside for some forced explanation (on the other hand, the theme was crappy). Why so little in the journal?

    Very nice, but the map was very cluttered with all the colors of tiles. It was often hard to find the zombies because of this.

    250 is a bit high for me, I enjoyed the time I spent but it needs more to justify a gauntlet that long.

    the dark green tiles made zombies hard to spot, also the grey tiles aren't obviously solid when compared alongside the purple tiles. Also the collision was sometimes a bit harsh.

    The art style is quite interesting. The "busy" style is quite unique.

    The game itself felt like a bit of work as there were a lot of zombies to kill. I didn't make it to the end.

    Overall, nice entry!

    It has a distinctive and interesting look, and a rather large map. While that's impressive, I feel that the map was too large, since killing one zombie was about the same experience as killing the other 249.
    I also feel that moving diagonally would help; the controls felt a bit off because of not being able to.

    Had a really tough time getting my guy into 1 tile-wide hallways. Would've liked to see a few different spells/zombies for variety.

    sometimes zombies spawn in areas that you have to waste a life or two to get to :/ movement is pretty hard also

    Very nice game!
    These graphics makes this game very unique.
    Maybe add some more types of skill and levels etc.

    I liked the idea in general. While zombies as a theme normally makes me roll my eyes, it was interesting to have zombies that still shoot back. I do wish, however, that they showed something other than random movement; it wasn't too much of a challenge to shoot them when they weren't looking.
    The graphics were a bit 'loud' and the still-image screenshots looked pretty confusing as a result, but once the game was in motion it wasn't too bad. I wasn't a fan of the collision detection, though. Quite often I'd get stuck on a wall, or my fireballs would explode on a wall next to me instead of continuing along.

    Overall, though, the game could easily have got a higher rating if the AI was more challenging and the control issues above were alleviated. Plenty of scope for expansion, as well - different spells, different enemy types, gameplay other than 'kill them all' etc.
    A good first try!

    I liked the game. It is fun to play. However it is annoying that you sometimes are already almost killed before you can even start the game. Also it is hard to see which tiles are meant for walking and which are obstacles.

    interesting play on zombie theme. I like the mechanics. The collision detection got a bit sticky and made things more difficult, but well done over all :)
