Aurea Oceanus - bompo - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Collect enough gold and return to the submarine!
Beware of the sharks! Run to avoid them!
But take into account that you will need more oxygen if you run.
Tip: Don't run the whole time and always look around for sharks. As soon as you see one run away! You should have plenty of time to look for the gold if you just walk.

Nice idea. Couldn't find all the gold, but I liked the underwater athmosphere and what happened, when the shark got me.
Wow, it was pretty scary down there! Good job, impressive work!
Those sharks/whales kept eating me before I could even find two. Realistic, I guess. And sorta fun!
Overall this is a great game. A little bit to hard for me, either I ran out of oxygen or the sharks ate me ;)
I agree in the dificulty, maybe it is a little too hard. When running straight, there's no way I can tell if I have a shark behind me. But the atmospheric work is amazing.
Can't get it to run with OpenJDK 7 or Oracle Java 7: (lwjgl is installed)

I hate sharks. Said it before, but I really do hate them. However I love this entry!! :)
I really liked the immersion achieved by the breathing-like sounds, the gloomy underwater scenary, the camera shake when the sharks attack.
Really good, the animated start screen gets you in the mood right away.
I loved this entry, very atmospheric! Graphics and audio are perfect.
didn't see any sharks, but i did get eaten by one...
Losing sight of the submarine made me kind of anxious.
I'd like to see this developed further, but maybe with a more interesting goal than just collecting coins :)
applet runs but input does not work, i can look around with the mouse but i cant do anything else. (also, my mouse gets trapped in the applet, requireing me to pop open a console and kill the java process to get my mouse back.)
Very nice creation of atmosphere. I liked the restriction of field of vision, I think it worked really well here. Gameplay obviously leaves a little bit to be desired, but good job regardless :)
Very atmospheric - didn't find enough gold but managed to survive long enough to run out of air on my second try. :)
I suppose a different goal may make the game more fun to play (though I can't think of one) while keeping it moody. It has little replay value as it is. Still very good work though!
It was far too difficult for me. The most I got was 5 pieces of gold. However, the atmosphere is very well done. The sounds of breathing plus the restricted field of vision really help to set the mood. Definitely the most atmospheric game I've played in this competition.
Awesome! I could only get to 6/10 gold, and died a few times. But never from no oxygen...the shark got me! :)
I'm just going to give a score for community because I can't seem to get this to run for some reason. I'm having a lot of issues with Java games and it's pissing me off because I've updated everything. :(
Quite good looking and good tech involved, but the gameplay was pretty frustrating to me. There were way too many coins and also way too many sharks. I would often be eaten without knowing where the shark was, and I wasn't sure what to about it when I saw one.
Managed to find all the 10 bars on my first try with about 45% oxygen left. One shark snuck up on me and scared the crap out of me but I managed to get away. 10/10 would play more of the same. Well done!
