Leave Me Alone - SaiKai - Jam Entry
Hello there....
finally we have a "finished" product in our hands.
This is a team effort, produced by Saikai , Dero ,Mirthen , Physx and Madea. This game is our first finished game in this constellation ( and with xna.... mind you ).
This Game need the XNA Redistributable to run.
You can get it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=15163
The game is a simple side scroll running game. You are followed by a horde of people who want to hug you, even though you sold your "free hugs" sign yesterday. So you try to get away from them. No matter what, you want to be left alone.
The Goal of this game is easy... get to level 5 with as few followers as possible. You can loose followers by throwing bombs at them (...obviously). There are also breakable objects in the level which you can break through while rolling.Also...please don't step into the fire....it hurts.
When you are caught, you can retry the same level, but your score will be reset to zero.
Default controls: ( Can be changed in Options )
[UP] -> Jump
[DOWN] -> roll
[SPACE] -> activate bomb
Good luck ...and pray that our level generator doesn't cough up impossible levels.
ps: We are very sorry that we can't give binaries to all the Linux and MacOs guys(and girls) out there . XNA at fault here :) . We will put up a Youtube Video soon, to show the Game to you too.

@Jack: as SaiKai said, you need xna to start it :) I forgot that I don't have it on my Laptop and it crushed when I started it. Now I installed xna (just follow the link that SaiKai posted) and it works now :)
Hope, it will make as much fun as it does for us ;)
Maybe you could try porting to monogame:
http://monogame.codeplex.com/
Then it would work on more then Windows ;-)
I have XNA installed to rate some other games and it was going ok, but with this one I get "ld22 has stopped working"
Nice game, but i fear i cant rate it, because its just way to difficult ^^ sometimes death is unaviodable...
Liked SFX & Music :D
Probably the most fun game from this LD I've played so far (at least of those I can remember). It looks reasonably nice, though I think that I kept dying without realising because there were some objects that I thought were in the background that actually weren't. Good music/sound. Fits the theme, not in a particularly interesting way, but better than most that I've played.
Yes, your level generator tends to create unplayable levels (or it's too difficult for me)
Graphics are really cool, and the idea is fun (kind of reminds me of bit.trip runner?)... but i think the jumping mechanics get in the way a bit, especially when you have to jump a series of obstacles - I think the player's fall speed is too slow.
Nice take on the theme.
I had a good time playing this, and I thought the stream of huggers following your movements was cute and funny. It was probably too hard, at least starting off, but the difficulty made me keep playing.
There were definitely collisions that caught me by surprise, since barely clipping an object caused me to enter a falling state and then slide until I hit a wall (which could sometimes be very far away). Some of the objects are too thin and/or blend in, and some platforms look low enough to run under, but require rolling.
I wish there was a form of air control in this game, since a lot of the cheap deaths and frustration came from doing a big leap only to have some hazard enter the screen directly in the path of my jump. A stomp move, or a hastened fall would help greatly, since I'd have a chance to react to bad jumps and hazards and save myself!
I have XNA but this game still refuses to run. You should use a more compatible library.
can you post a little more information then "refuses to run"? most likely your problem is that you need the 3.1 xna redistributable ( not 3.0 not 4.0 but exactly 3.1 ! )
I really liked the audio... a full music track is a rarity in the games I've played so far. However, the gameplay felt pretty unfair. Controlling the height of your jumps is difficult (a longer momentum building phase to the jump would have helped) but the big problem is that you don't have enough forewarning of what's coming to make the correct decision. Its very easy, for instance, to jump onto a platform thinking it will be safe, only to find that you'll plow into an obstacle or a wall before you can land.
Overall, though, I was really impressed with the entry. It feels complete, which is a lot more than can be said for a lot of entries (my own included).
HILARIOUS - I love how you all PILE UP into a wall. PROCEDURAL BONUS!!!! ... even if it does make the game impossible at times. The reaction time could be a bit faster, too. You really need SUPER TIGHT controls in a game like this. Good work!
I like the "story" and the graphics, but I get frustrated for the same reasons as in 8-bit runner. Probably this one slight mistake death restart kind of mechanic.
Before I say anything else I'd like to say the music is amazing!
This game seemed very difficult at first, but after I played it a bit and got used to it it wasn't so bad. Actually, after I mastered it, this became probably the most fun and addictive game I've played. I couldn't stop playing it! After I finally managed to win twice in a row, with a score of 19803, I stopped.
I discovered that you can jump in mid air if you walk off a platform rather than jumping off it. I'm not sure if it was a glitch, but I found it to be a suitable and enjoyable mechanic.
The graphics and sound (especially the music) are good, but some sounds are too loud. Overall, though, it's a fantastic game!
thanks for all the nice comments.and congratulations on actually finishing the game^^ yeah .. the jumping when falling was a bug, but we decided to leave it in because it was kinda fun to play with it. the sounds were implemented in the last hours when nobody wanted to work on it anymore. because of that it's kinda glitchy.
Great concept, and pretty fun, but I felt the controls werent all that responsive, and collisions were a bit off.
Crashing the moment i open it :( sad face looks good though i like the audio file i was able to run from content :)
Pretty fun game. I liked the twist on this game type. Sometimes, I felt like i'd get dog-piled for no reason at all and it would be completely at random (once, before the first jump). I never got a sense for what caused that or why or how to avoid it. Aside from that, this was a pretty enjoyable game!
