A memory - maxx - 48 Hour Competition Entry

My name is Max, i have been programming for 7 months now, this is my second game ever and my first Ludum Dare entry! I am happy about succeding this challenge, i am learning a lot and this is an awesome community.

A memory is about someone who is trapped metaphorically inside his head and cannot escape his past, it is some experimental idea i tried to print on this game.

You have to explore "your mind" with the arrow keys looking for the 10 keys necessary to go through a portal that supposedly will take you out from there. Meanwhile, you can read the character´s thoughts in the screen.

I hope you like it,or at least feel something while playing through the game :)

On development:
I wrote the game in C++ using OpenGL, and a few helper libraries(FreeType & ZLib for fonts, DevIL for PNGs)
The images were done with GIMP, some of them are just edited photographs i took. I could not make it in time for the music because i did not manage to get OpenAL working on time for the submission.

Again, hope you like it and i will be very pleased to answer any question about the game.

Cheers!

Max

Great job on the graphics, they are amazing for a 48-hour game! I would have prefered fewer ads/less wait time for the download, though :)

Thanks! GIMP filters and some imagination can get the job done quick enough. Wait-less download next time.

An exceptionally good looking game! It just sort of lacks direction. How many keys do I need? What do they do? Is it okay to collect the same one over and over?

I did make it to the swirly bit after collecting 10 or so keys, but it just returned me to the main menu. Is that winning?

Like I said though, gorgeous game. Good work.

Yeah, i changed the idea over and over in the 48 hours, luckily a could deliver something "finished". So i involuntarily concentrated more in the graphics part, not too much time to code something fun. Tough, i learned a lot this time, which i will hopefully apply on my next LD. Thanks for playing and sorry for forgetting the "game-with-objetive" part!

MSVCP100.dll not found. Also, the Windows link is broken. I'm using Windows XP.

Sorry! The game is back online, it has all the DLLs required and works on XP!
