    Escape route - JaJ - 48 Hour Competition Entry

    In "Escape route" you have to find the exit of a forest and your way back home.

    Some of this appears to be brute force/random at times, but after I play for a bit I start noticing patterns. Its definitely a game you have to experiment around with to understand, but in a good way.

    Very cool Zelda dark forest vibe, also a bit Sabre Wulf, bewildering green passages.

    Broody and dark, confusing in a good way.

    A promising game, reminiscent of Sabre Wulf as mentioned above, but the forest here doesn't make sense: I can turn back and end up somewhere I didn't come from. This makes the forest tiresome, because whenever I walked across the screen I felt like it was a wasted effort. Sadly, that made the game unenjoyable. :(

    If the forest made sense, this could have been a very enjoyable game.

    The game music is quite nice, and I applaud you on that :)

    The forest was a bit too what the bleep mate for my taste. Sadly never got past it even after collecting three of the items. Looks beautiful and good music too.

    It is initially very frustrating, but it is a cool puzzle if you stick with it. The music was very nice! I think if you had a few more items it would make it much less frustrating. I'd _maybe_ even just have them permanently marked, because it felt like the "real" puzzle was learning how they map between each other. When you can't mark them all, it comes down to memorizing the movement patterns or just dumb luck, neither of which are all that enjoyable.

    I made it to where I've used to keys and found one more but haven't found a door for it. To keep making progress I, it looks like I need to exhaustively search the rooms I've been to and find one which one I only _thought_ I'd already tried all the exits from.

    This is a cool puzzle that I'd really have liked to continue if I had lots more items to mark places with.

    Thank you! I didn't have much time to test and it was hard to find testers in such a short period. And this type of game really needs testers, since I know exactly how the rooms are mapped and where to go. The next version will have a lot more items, and a better learning curve if possible.

    It was more entertaining that I appeared on first sight! I really enjoyed this one. However, I was unable to find what to do in the room with the skeleton, just after open the second door. I also tried to move down from the door but on the right most corner and then I ended up stuck in a wall and had to quit and lost all progress :'(

    The music was well done and proper.

    I liked it! Moody and pretty enough. Forest feels a bit like a scary strange place you can get lost in, a nightmare. Still though, it gets more familiar as you play, and it's rewarding each time you solve an area and get to proceed. Reminds me somewhat of Section Z, and I feel like I should draw a pencil map while playing. It's not too hard to beat with memory alone though, if you just have patience and give it some time. I guess there could be more items in the early rooms so it takes a while before you really encounter identical unmarked areas. The player would then also realize that rooms become identical after they've grabbed the marker items and return to the room they came from.
