Snake Plissken: Surfin' U.S.A. - vandriver - 48 Hour Competition Entry
Decided to go for a bit of parody based on the name with a corny movie reference(and then actual corn).
Spacebar/X shoots. Arrow keys move.
You're Snake Plissken, surfing to escape from various locales! Shoot floating barrels to drop them on enemies below or dodge them and hope they wipe out the foes behind you.
If you want, you can skip to any of the 4 levels by pressing that number while in game. The final stage ramps up in difficulty rather steeply, but I didn't put in a victory screen for winning so you're not missing anything if you don't beat it, except glory.

Also, I think this is the first Kurt-Russel based game here at Ludum Dare.
nice little game! would be great with some dick dale-esque soundtrack. seriously playing miserlou in the background increased my enjoyment of this game tenfold. try it! great work!
oh my god, miserlou is perfect. hahaha. i need to figure out how to 8bit-ize that song and throw it in there.

Fun game, and pretty good game mechanics
Fun! Hit box seems a bit too large for how fast those double shots spread. I was able to finish the last level with only taking one hit though, so I can't complain. Also, level 3: wtf? Yellowstone and bears are comedy gold in Ludum Dare.
Really nice game, movement could be faster though, and make bullets or your hitbox smaller. With some music this would be one of the best games in the compo (of the 30-ish I rated at least).
Haha that was great! Feels very classic nes in terms of graphics which I love. You did a really good job keeping the game fun although wow was it hard! In terms of critiques I would suggest toning down the difficulty just a bit, beyond that awesome writing and setting.
Shame no sound or music. The graphics are amazing. Everything is so well-polished, except for the top of the wave which is too pointy. Even with that, though, this game looks like it was ripped right from an NES screen!
edsploration: that's better than even I can do. i'm impressed.
jedi: i had no idea how to appropriately do a 'wave' animation and didn't want to get bogged down redoing it over and over so i just went with my first draft.

Very funny! Got nice and bullet-hellish quickly. It's a bit tough to judge when a barrel is lined up to hit the running enemies. Fun game overall.
I would have loved to have some sort of audio with this, but I'll take it for what it is. ;) Love the setting and story.
