Next Time I Won't Trust the Man in the White Van - Spaceoff - Jam Entry

'Next Time I Won't Trust the Man in the White Van' is a top down challenge/puzzle game by Josh Coughran (Maple) and Rory Higgins (Spaceoff), set, rather unimaginitively, in a dungeon. Everything about the story is what you make of it, so without further ado:

Controls: Arrow keys to move, R key to restart the level, M to toggle mute. The game saves the last level you were on, which can be accessed with the Load button at the menu.
Edit: Noticed too late there's a problem with the keeping of the deaths stat, beating a level will accumulate a death, so don't feel heartbroken if you got a seemingly perfect run with 26 deaths or so.

The artwork, music and some level design was by Maple, the rest was by Spaceoff.

If your not satisfied or wish to contact us, Maple can be contacted at twitter.com/@itsMaple or mapleisnot(at)gmail(dot)com, and Spaceoff can be contacted at spaceoffz(at)gmail(dot)com

If there are two things I love in this world, they are sliding block puzzles and good pixel art, and this game has both of them. Fantastic!

I like how you took the classic block pushing game and made it much more dynamic. It's great how you keep adding variation to the puzzles so nothing seems old.

Amazing game! I loved how you introduced the game mechanics piece by piece, and how you didn't need to say how each mechanic worked - you put the player in situations which allowed them to experiment and WORK OUT how a new mechanic played - amazingly "perfect" design!

I finished the game with these stats:
    29:09 time
    97 deaths
    7966 steps
    101 crates

That level with all the lasers took me forever. I also died a fair few times on the last level - it was kind of glitchy.

Great art, and I'm surprised that I didn't get bored of the looping track. It was subtle enough. Overall, great job! Well done :D
