Quean Bee - peterstock - Jam Entry
My first game jam, and I heeded the wisdom of McFunkypants regarding the avoidance of noob mistakes, going with something very simple.
A 2-player game: get your lovely bees across to the other side of the screen, but stop the other player from getting their bees across. Bees sting each other when they meet and die shortly afterwards.
Would good games seem as good if there weren't bad ones to compare them too? Do my terrible graphics somehow benefit the community by providing a low-water reference point?

Thanks for trying it out! I should have said, the controls might not be what you expect - you can only move the bees once you have created some to send across. So press Space and Enter first, then you can move up and down.
I didn't read the rules properly at the beginning, and didn't make my engine code publically available before the competition, so this is just a jam entry.
Cool idea, though it's not particularly intuitive. It also kind of turns into a who-can-mash-the-keys-faster game after a while, since defending makes it a zero-sum game. Would be nice if you got a bonus for shooting down an enemy bee somehow...
This became a whole lot more interesting at the point I discovered how this all works :)
Not bad, although I don't have anyone to properly test the gameplay. And the theme connection is quite weak I think.

Great start Peter. The link is broken - remove the www. to download. Game loads on my Linux box with WINE, however the controls don't work. I'll try later on with a real Windows machine. Don't forget that to enter the competition (not the jam) you need to include the source code.
