Maze++ - RandomM00 - 48 Hour Competition Entry
Windows | OS/X | Linux | Web | Source
The level design is awful, I didn't really have time, but I was partly saved by GIMP's maze generating plugin :D
I wanted to write an "Escape the Maze", but with eye candy and some new features, like destructible walls, super-colliding-super-buttons and one-way walls. I pretty much succeeded, despite having completely changed what I was aiming for at the beginning of day 2. I'm much more pleased with this than my LD19 entry, despite less completion.
Written with Flex 4 and Flixel, on Ubuntu Linux ;)

I'm no big fan of maze games, but the lighting effects in this one really makes it work.Good job!
A pity there's only one level. :) I liked it! Nice lighting mechanics.
I agree with others, the lighting was really slick looking. I also liked the humor/honesty on the ending :). It could've used a less shrill beep noise, but nice work!
That was actually a lot better than I was expecting from the screenshots. I have to agree, the fog of war effect was really well done and made it fun to explore the map, and the explosions were cool too =)
Not much happening in the game but, I'm intrigue to keep playing anyway. And I finished it!
I agree that the fog of war is cool. This game will probably be better if more things is happening.
The graphics were simple but attractive. The controls were a bit weird at times but mostly fluid and nice. I agree the level design wasn't fantastic but I still enjoyed playing through it. If you want any pointers on maze/labyrinth generating algorithms I've spent some time thinking about them in the past.
Some music and better sounds would really help this game a lot! :)
Thanks for all the positive comments, I really appreciate it!
@d_m I spent a bit of time looking for maze gen alorithms, but the problem was making them work with the tile based (rather than wall based) maps, and having complex items in them, like one way walls. In the end, I decided to cobble something together with a mixture of the GIMP's maze render plugin and adding things by hand. If you have any better ideas, I would love to hear them, I'm hoping to improve and update Maze++ to put on Kongregate.
I thought the switches really made this game pretty playable. Without being told what anything does, it really felt like I was exploring (more than actually going through the maze did).
It made me jump sometimes, because the button and things were startling (and loomed out of nowhere). I wish you could have done realtime generation of these mazes! Overall very good though. :D
I don't even care what the game is about, I just want to uncover more corners with that curving fog. So very sexy!
No flash player on my GNU/Linux system, sorry. I won't rate, but I want to comment that the visual style looks very nice in the screenshots!

It was a little tedious with all the dead ends. Otherwise a nice little game. The fog of war effect is cool, and helps you remember where you have been.
