Once I'd realized it was just that simple, I'd already played it long enough to consider it fun!

    hazman says ...

why do bananas come out of the sea ?

    Hempuli says ...

I tried all the three files in the folder (the .jar, launch.bat and launch_64bit.bat), but nothing happened.

Every Java and .Net entry I've tried from this LD has failed. A really discouraging track record for both platforms :(

    Cosine says ...

It refused to work for me. :/

    Tozy says ...

    I cant play it neither.

    SonnyBone says ...

    Won't work on my end.

    :(

hazman, my theory: This island is surrounded by many others which are plentiful with banana trees. The protagonist is nearsighted, so can hardly tell they're there, and he lost all feeling in his feet, so he can't detect the common low-magnitude earthquakes that shake the bananas from their bunches.

I didn't really think it was all that fun though... it felt to me like a "you're stuck on a sandy island with a slow banana feed" simulator. But I thought this simplicity was its charm, along with the irony of having such a weak main character.

And this is the first entry so far where I've voted for all categories! Yay!

Hello, I edited the .bat to execute just "java -Djava.library.path=./natives/ -jar LD17.jar" and it worked. The game is very basic, but it could work if some challenge is added.

    Pyrrhuloxia says ...

The first time I tried to play this it wouldn't work. For some reason, it worked today, although after less than a minute it appeared to lock up. :( I like the graphics and the use of bananas.

    hamburger says ...

I didn't finish the game (does it end?) because I found it painfully slow paced. I think the problem is that your hunger rises so slowly; thus the only way to lose is to suffer a really long period in which absolutely nothing happens. Visually pretty charming, though. :)

    Endurion says ...

Dear americans: Every other country beside yours does NOT have c:program files (maybe UK and Australia do). You should never hardcode an absolute path.

Also, if a banana floats I certainly wouldn't want to eat it :D

Nice little game, if somewhat unchallenging. You have to try hard to die. Have other stuff float by.
