    Statue - zazery - 48 Hour Compo Entry

    You wander and explore this mysterious land looking for traces of the people before you.

    Arrow keys to move
    Up to climb ladders.
    Space to jump (Y on Xbox controller)


    **SPOILERS**

    Ending: You win the game when you collect all three shards and the optional kitten.

    Double jumping doesn't work well. If you jump while standing still and then use the arrow keys to move in the air it will be much easier.

    Seems like the controls aren't quite right. Jumping in particular is a bit of a chore and there is one section where it is particularly bad since the only way out is to double jump several times and I can't reliably do it for some reason. Otherwise I like this game. I just wish I could get out of that hole.

    Pretty average. Very short, faulty controls; also, I thought I had won because the statue was all lit up, but I got no "You win!"

    I have rendering problems when I played it. The world is all ultra blocky and pixelated.

    I liked it but I'm not sure if I beat it? I got the shrine lit up, went and got the thing that made repeating explosions emit from me, but wasn't sure what to do after that :(

    I got a sense of achievement for reaching the kitten thingy
    and falling into the void after climbing over the cave system
    with a few double jumps. Getting all symbols, on the other
    hand, wasn't really rewarding. But I liked that the game was
    straight forward, with not too much confusion and waiting.

    It's true, the controls are glitchy and too slippery. Double
    jumping appeared to deliberately troll me when I was just
    about to reach something important.

    Some walking animations would have been nice, and easy for
    you to make. It's also not real retro pixel art style because
    the player floats between pixels. This isn't necessarily bad,
    though. Overall it looks okay.

    I jumped out of the level geometry :(

    I liked the graphics, but the jumping is very annoying and imprecise, despite the tight requirements of some jumps. Not really sure what the objective was, I got all of the yellow things but nothing happened...

    Love it, shame about the lack of an ending though.

    Also the double jump is only broken if you are falling when you execute the first jump, then you can't trigger the second one.

    Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone. I'm glad people are enjoying the game despite the flaws.

    Ending: Yes, I ran out of time for a proper ending. You win the game when you collect all three shards and the optional kitten.

    Controls: Double jump doesn't work as well as it should and I should have made the controls tighter. I wish I could update the controls but that wouldn't be in the spirit of the competition.

    @bitbof: I didn't even think of double jumping on the mountain but I'm glad you got a sense of achievement out of it.

    pretty cool game. I like the graphics a lot. I was able to get stuck inside the top mountain bit of the cave and had to restart :( My only nitpick is that more sound effects or ambient sounds would have made the game way more enjoyable. Well done :)

    Got stuck in a hole as well, after I found a red cap. The random double jump made me give up too, but that's a shame, I like the art and I wish the controls would respond better.

    Seemed like a very promising game, love the visuals and the exploration feel. Once I got the red hat though, I couldn't get out of that pit because of the broken double jumping.
