Nicely executed, for what it is. I'm so glad to have popup killers nowadays so I won't have to go through this kind of stuff anymore. Once is twice too many.
The ambient music does a good job of building an uneasy and slightly alarming mood.

Hahaha, great idea, and a very solid implementation. I think it should be signalled that it's a bad thing to miss the box and click onto the background :)

I almost wish I could spend more time reading the popup boxes, but I had to keep clicking them to avoid losing. Great, funny game.

as others have said.. flashbacks to bad memories of popup-death. ;) It was very funny and the graphics / messages made me want to read them rather than click at first so I think my score suffered.. ;) Also, more of a click-fest than very fun, but points for humor and scope. Also, props on the thousands of goat cookies and the dead marmint on a plate. The pictures of your shotgun wielding wife had me laughing during the compo too. :)

Man, I only got 80,000 and I thought I had done really well!
I give you low theme points, not sure how this fits the theme at all... now, if you had made it a game of clicking the minimize button on various windows, you'd have my vote! Of course, you'd also be aiming for a mighty small target, and your taskbar would get pretty darn full. Maybe the windows keep expanding on their own (they're games, see, and you are distracting yourself with them), and you have to minimize them to get to work on your essay. The essay gradually types itself and you have to get it done before class starts.
Sorry, wrote you a new game there. Anyway, and people say my game causes RSI! I nearly died getting my lousy 80k score.

Amusing. I think there was another game like this that actually required you to click on the X button, and sometimes the popups appeared partially off-screen so you had to drag them into view to click the button.

A great overall package. Everything seems to be polished quite well. Nice subliminal messages in the menu. Nice BSOD. Nice everything! One of the best entries, definitely.

Scary game. OK at first, overwhelming later on. Humorpoints granted.
+2 food point for all the goat cookies. +1 for gopher. Still only ends on 4 though -- milk or yoghurt doesn't grant extra!

Funny sounds, funny opening graphics, nice clean in-game graphics. Simple but effective gameplay. I would have liked the dialogs to require clicking on their buttons rather than just the whole Window ... more realistic to the difficulty experienced in a real dialog box attack :) But maybe that would be less fun, I dunno.

A few days ago my laptop got violently attacked by all sorts of bloatware. I’m guessing it was due to some IE hole or something, oh well. Anyway, it inspired this game. You get to destroy bloatware – yay!
Download for windows or get the source svn://www.imitationpickles.org/ld11/trunk/
Oh, and you can get all kinds of crazy combos if you don’t miss any boxes and are really fast. So get playing! Made with python / pygame as per usual.

Well, I got all the game-play and core graphics done. Tomorrow I’ll wrap it up with some music, sfx, and a title / menu screen.
I was able to use my pug gui engine to render those dialog boxes. You get crazy combos in this game if you can keep up!

Ludum Dare 11 is coming! Ludum Dare is a regular community driven game development competition. The goal is, given a theme and 48 hours, to develop a game from scratch. Ludum Dare aims to encourage game design experimentation, and provide a platform to develop and practice rapid game prototyping.

*the theme voting will be done in batches almost every day that week. So keep checking back. The final round of voting will be during the 48 hours prior to the compo. If you want to influence what is in those batches, edit http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/wiki/ld11:themes and if you think there are themes in that list that are so awful people shouldn’t be force to bother voting on them, join the irc channel and get some folks to agree with you and you can remove them. Lousy and redundant themes will be removed by the ThemeMaster.
