My first Ludum Dare – My third game

If I learned something about my first Ludum dare, it’s that the time is very finite, and it ends way before you wanted it to. My first ludum dare compo entry “Berries” is what I consider my 3rd game ever made. I’m not much of a visual artist, so the graphics kind of.. ..suck. Also, there’s not much graphical content, since I didn’t have time to finish half of what I wanted.

    So what did I learn?

Plan your time better. Okay. So I didn’t have much experience in making games and it was not that easy to plan how much time I would be spending on each task. Also, the tasks were a bit unclear. Plan.

Keep it very, very small and simple. I guess everyone knows this. Now I know it too.

Eat well, sleep well. I actually did this and I’m sure it helped me a lot.

What am I going to do before next Ludum Dare?

Learn to make better graphics. Yes. I shall do that.

Learn your libraries better. I shall do that too. For this entry I used LWJGL and Slick 2d . I should have used more time to study them before the compo.

    Learn. Yes.

    Have fun. Yes.
