It’s done!! You can now blast away at monsters with an infinite number of randomly generated guns to your heart’s content. (The guns can do some pretty interesting things, if I say so myself).

It’s on! I’ve decided to make a protoype of a game idea I had, so please be detailed in your feedback!

It’s a game about guns. There’ll be tons of attributes and combinations, and lots of monsters to shoot them at.  It’ll have fun sci-fi laser effects too; although I decided to leave out the Lightening attack type.Basically you have fun trying to find the optimal (or the weirdest!) gun. The monsters will have the same guns you can have, too!! Although i MAY give them limitless ammo.

It’s going to be called Guns Rule.

Will put up a screenshot when I have something to show; I’m just about to dive into coding.

UPDATE: It’s working! I still have to hook up being the HUD and improve the monsters and add bosses (and polish), but I’ve got the engine in place!

I’m pretty happy about these…except for the fact that I used sfxr for sound effects and did them all in an hour; but I got higher for audio than for graphics! I did go for functionality over looks, but it’s a little embarrasing when you’re an artist.

I think this was the most fun I’ve ever had in any game jam! I will definitely be participating in the next one.

I’ve played 100 games, and now I’m doing a post on my favs. (I’ll update it if I find more really good games.)

Here, in roughly the order I found them in, are my favourite games from this LD:

Tiny Stomp:   Nice simple 3d graphics, including stomp marks. You stomp on tiny creatures, trying not to trip over your feet or puncture yourself. Very fun, addicting, and easy to pick up! Like the sound fx too.       link
Invasion of Tiny World: A  good core mechanic that the game revolves around, creative, lots of destruction, great graphics, great audio, an all around winner!   link   
Fracuum: Awesome! Lots of gameplay, and the zooming thing gives you a sense of the world like  few other games do! Best level design.  link
Asylum:  Beautiful! A good story AND a great way of telling it that takes advantage of various game elements, just like a videogame story should.  This game is awesome. link 
Obsolecence: Most polished entry! Also has a really good sense of mood.  link
subAtomic: Most funny!  link
Planet Zoob: Best audio!  link
Tiny Worlds (the one with all the blue and orange): Gameplay isn’t the best…but it has the most stick-in-your-head music by far!  link
 Moon Base: Third most unique mechanic!    link
Tiny Computer People: Innovative, and relaxing to play! A very cool idea.    link

Super Ant Surfer Hero (or some such): Lots of gameplay, feels polished, and the ant is really cool! Deserves mentioning just for the ant companion. Feels very complete.   link
Evolve: Best combination of simple fun, relaxing to play, awesome graphics, and humour. Lots of games had those, but this one really brought them all together nicely.  link

1024 games and counting!!! Wow!

I didn’t think we were going to do it. But I dropped my ass at how fast the games came in in the last few hours: At one point I refreshed the page after 10 minutes and saw that 64 people had submitted a game in that period!

I’m planning to play 10% of the games.    Maybe more!

PS After exploring, defending, and playing god over all those tiny worlds…how’d you like to toss one around like a basketball? Be the master of Whovilles’ fate! Bwahaha! Two ways to play each of 5 levels, plus a tutorial and intro.

This LD is turning out to be really fun so far!

Looks like a lot of exploration and exploitation/god games are getting made! That’s good, cause I love doing both.

After people have explored all those tiny worlds, they might want to pick one up and toss it around.

That’s exactly what you can do in my game: My Kid Dropped The Planet! You can try and get it to safety….or be sadistic and destroy everyone on it before time runs out! (Bit of shameless self-promotion there.)

Can’t wait to see all the cool games everyone makes this year!

This LD is going GREAT! The last few game making jams I participated in taught me a lot. I’m not revealing all the details just yet, but my game is called My Kid Dropped The Planet and is about what can happen when you combine a minature world with a roomful of bored kids.

I also had an idea for a rescue team going into a wizard’s laboratory and freeing the results of his shrinking experiments. But I like this idea better.

Can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with!!

Intro done, tutorial done, 3 levels done, sound fx done!

I’ll tell you what its about now: Your mom the evil sceintist captured Whoville…but she had to leave it alone with her kids. Now they’re playing ball with it! You are the guiding hand of Fate, controlling where the kids shoot the ball. Will you be Good..or Evil? There’s two ways to play every level–2 tutorial levels and 3 real levels so far!
