What I’ve learned (Nick)
I’ve mostly learned that it’s pretty easy to make a game in a small amount of time if you concentrate (Kinda) and work hard (Kinda..). Sometimes bugs turn into features! Also, a lot of making a game is A) Playing your own game, or B) Messing around. That’s just what made it fun!
For the next LD I might try solo, as I’ll know more. I’ve had a lot of fun and I think me and Liam did good!
On a different note, there’s a large project I’m working on called Project FOG. It’s going to be a freeroam RPG, 2D side-scrolling style. Check it out if you want! http://www.cobatrix.com/fog
What I’ve learned (Liam)
Ludum Dare was awesome, and I’ll definitely do it again some time, maybe solo, see how that goes. Our motto for this game was KISS, and that worked beautifully. I learned how to properly use channels to play music, or sounds. I also learned that the principal at our school plays video games punctuated by random screams. Nick taught me how to properly cap the framerate. I did NOT learn how to use the sprite class properly, but that’s alright, we can just use 20 billion variables instead. (Note: This is an exaggeration) I’m proud of what we accomplished, and I think that all in all, it’s a rather fun game.
My (Our) first Ludum Dare
We (Myself and Nick Burris) Will be entering the Ludum Dare Jam. Probably using Python with the Pygame library. Might be using a library called mp3play for python. (I know this is a horrible thing to do, but it’s all we know well enough right now) Also using:
- Paint.net
- PyxelEdit (Maybe, looks awesome!)
