Well the die is cast! I’ve submitted my first ever LD entry! It was a whole lot of fun to make and the feeling of accomplishment I have now is super high. It’s so cool to have a finished game in your pocket, no matter how stupid it is. :-P

It’s 4.47 AM here in New Zealand and I’ve just rolled out of bed for the final push to the finish. Last night I managed to get most of the graphics done + integrated them. Today I have to:

    • Get Sounds done
    • Add some game balancing (Its bloody hard!)
    • Integrate some animations.
    • Add a restart option.
    • Submit!!!!

Good luck to everyone in the final hours!

Here’s  screenshot of Universal Singularity where I left it last night. (This game is totally insane!).

Ok so the visuals aren’t very spectacular but I managed to get my space dude moving around a room and correctly colliding with walls and such. This was all handled by Unity’s physics and the 2d toolkit.

The hardest part thus far was tweaking the physics params as it was difficult to get the right scale because I am using the 2d toolkit and that works in pixel units. I found that I had to drastically lower the mass of my player to 0.001 to get it to move. All ‘n all I’ve probably spent too long on the physics stuff but has been a good learning experience.

So I’ve got my player moving around a pretty empty room using physics but the game loop is complete and that’s the main thing.

Tomorrow enemies, gameplay, etc. Now… rest.

    So..

“The Universe is collapsing and YOU are the last remaining human survivor in a very tiny world.”

“The electromagnetic stabilizing field of your ship is beginning to give way and quantum super-positioning is starting to happen at a macro level.”

“Find the fusion units to open a wormhole to another universe and escape while avoiding the quantum abominations and gravity wells.”

“Escape before the universe collapses to a singularity…”

This should be interesting… Game to follow.

Yeah I’m in! My first LD. I hope by the end I’ll have either my sanity or a finished game, preferably both :)

    Tools:

    • Engine: Unity
    • Language: C#
    • Gfx: Photoshop
    • Sfx: Cfxr
    • Music: Logic

    Looking forward to the madness!
