This has come up in the ‘Should Game Maker (etc. al.) count’ thread, but I thought I would split it off here, so that we can keep the conversations topical, and because I’m interested in what other people think. Also, I do agree with a few other people in that thread, that coming to an agreement about what LD is about will assist any rules or voting changes that may or may not take place.
What I’m going to write here is a lot my opinion, but is also collected and paraphrased from what I have heard other people said.
Here’s a screenshot. Right now there is zero interaction, but the idea is indirect control of your little explorer. I’m not sure exactly how his is going to work, my original idea was like Magestic (Or whatever that game is) where you attract explorers then send them into the dungeon. I don’t think I’ll have time to fully implement this, but we’ll see how I do.
Hopefully I can find some gameplay to implement…..

I plan on entering this again this time. Hopefully I won’t get frustrated with other time commitments like the last few times…
I’m switching from my usual python / pygame joint to Ruby / Gosu and a home-brew library I’m calling Raspy.
Raspy’s pretty incomplete, and I’m planning on improving it over the compo, but the timer is pretty cool. Hopefully I can get the Map and Viewport sections done by Friday. (Good luck)
