After posting the game up on Twitter

I am blown away by the sheer determination of people to beat the top scores. Its been an hour and over 20k blocks have been blown up (an average game lasts 1 minute and you blow up 300~ blocks..), Thank you Ludum Dare for giving me the chance to make a game like this!

I am now quite sleepy, my hand is killing me (managed to cut it open the night before) and I really could use some food. But thank you for entertaining me this weekend! Happy LD guys and gals!

So far I’m about 9 hours into development (I was planning on starting last night, then I managed to slice my hand open whilst cooking), playing around with some effects and generally getting an idea for what it is that I want to make.

Here is a build and some shots of it in action if you’d like to give it a go!

    Hello LDer’s!

So this time around I thought I’d get involved and actually make something for a change and I really can’t wait for it, the only problem this time around is that I’m also heading to Unite which ends the day that LD begins. So I may get some time after I’m back to create something within the timeframe (which I think might even be 24 hours by the time I’m back in the UK)

However, I will be submitting something, even if it’s terrible!

Tools of choice this time around are:

    • Unity
    • Monodevelop (Pretty much because it comes bundled with Unity..)
    • Some sort of music / sound synthesizer (any suggestions?)
    • Cubes – Because every good prototype is made with just cubes right (more because I have the artistic talent of a ham sandwich)
    • Twitch.tv for streaming
    • Something to screen-capture to

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what everyone comes out with this time around and can’t wait to get to making some games!

(Also if your heading to Unite, give me a shout!)

    In, I am :D

For the last 24 hours I’ve been creating a game for the LD48,  the theme was announced on Saturday morning (3 am here!) as “Escape”.

With the theme Escape the first thing that came to mind was a platformer consisting of various levels with enemies to get past / kill, however when I started on developing it I quickly became bored with the idea and after looking at a couple of other projects people had announced I realised that it was being done by several people.

Instead of continuing with the platformer idea I opted to create something different, I enjoy making procedural enviroment’s so I created a city algorithm that effectively created a maze which the engine then drew city buildings / decals and objects onto. On top of this it added guards and snipers to give the player something to fear while trying to find the exit (Which is randomly placed too!)

Anyway, makes more sense to actually see the game in action!

Hey! My first LD so I hope I can finish it and get something out there!

    Tool’s I’ll be using:

    • XNA (C#)
    • GIMP for artwork
    • Dr Pepper zero (Got to watch that waist)
    • Livestream to stream WIP
    • Coffee
    • ???
Really can’t wait to get started on it to be honest, I tried to get some people together to do a Mini version (9 hours to make a game prototype) but in the end it was just me doing it.
    Good luck everyone!
