It’s quite amazing people of your planet can create so many cool things so quickly! A round of tentacle-applause to all of you!
Here’s what I’ve been up to: character design, with sprite-ified versions coming next.
Meanwhile @lmorillas is coding, creating placeholders for the actual finished graphics, parallax scrolling and all that.
I’m also painting backgrounds and assorted scene ornaments.
Hopefully we’ll have more to show tomorrow! Cheers!
* TRANSMISSION ENDS*
Hey there guys, this is @vruz from Montevideo, Uruguay.
This my second LD, my previous one was back in 2010.
This time I’m back to the trenches to try again in a team of two, with my friend Luis Miguel working remotely from Spain.
We’ll be using the very cool LÖVE framework, and probaby some add-on Lua libraries to simplify the management of sprites and camera.
Both LM and I can code, and game design will be shared 50/50, but I’m probably more artistically inclined so we’re going to try to find a good balance, maybe I’ll do a little coding, but most of the art will provided by me.
GIMP and/or Photoshop for graphics, SFXR for sound effects, and for music possibly some tracker like SunVox, Renoise or Milky Tracker.
If we don’t get enough time for an original score, I may request a little helping hand from some friends who hang out on SoundCloud.
It’s my first LD proper. I’ve been around in Mini-LDs, mostly lurking and learning before jumping into the fray.
Still unsure whether to go for the jam or the real deal, I just hope I’ll have an entertaining weekend polishing some gamemaking skills.
Pictured on the right, what my work environment will look like this weekend.
The same picture as a panoramic image, the picture is old but the place looks exactly the same as it did last year.
Here’s what things look like in the street today, around in Punta del Este, Uruguay. There’s a big revamping going on the main street and I can hear a pneumatic drill from here, banging on the street; hope they’re gone for the weekend. That would certainly make for a better quality creative time
I’m still unsure which tools I will use. I have a C++/OGRE/OpenGL working environment, a FreePascal/SDL/OpenGL one, but I might just go for Flex/Flixel or Haxe if the project lends itself for it.
Food will mostly be sandwiches, possibly a steakburger, or pasta all of which is stocked in the fridge.
I’m already on IRC and I plan to be around working and hoping for inspiration to come. If I don’t manage to pull something in 48 hours I will still be there to hang out with some great people, and maybe lending a hand wherever I can.
