Finally managed to put up a gameplay playthrough video! I’ll see if I can collect more videos from Ludum Dare Kajaani participants to put them all up to the same site.
(Now back to playing some game entries.)

Ludumdare Kajaani was a great success! We had 15 dedicated participants joining the competition and jam last weekend. Thanks to everyone who were involved!
Here are some games that were made during the event!
For more info you can check : http://ldkajaani.blogspot.com/
It seems there are still problems with the server so I’ll put the game here and give the proper submission when the site is functional again.

Facebreak Escape is a game where prisoners are trying to escape a dungeon. You have to escape the prison by fighting against hordes of security guards with your allies and reach the freedom which lies ahead.
To reach the end you have to brawl with 11 waves of enemies, collect loafs of break to gain health and free your friends from cages haning from the roof.
You can move using arrows and pressing up your character will jump, use X to punch enemies and cages.
Hope you enjoy the game!

The game still needs balancing but the core mechanics are now finihsed! I think I’ll try out Unity next time since it would be super interesting to make a 3d game for LudumDare.

I’m also in! I’ll be joinin’ with LudumDare Kajaani group again and I managed to arrange a proper location with local university of applied sciences!
I’ll join the competition or the jam depending how many people prefer to do jamming for Ludumdare here.
If you’re from Finland and interested to join us check out the facebook event at:
https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=154739737937979
Nearly 20 people will be participating here and no entry fees! If you don’t have facebook you can contact me directly.
Hope to see some neat games soon!
I’ve organized a small meetup at the northern Finland. Hopefully next time i can arrange a bigger space so we can fit more participants under the same roof.
From what I can see now we’ll be forming up at least one jamming team and the rest will work on their own games and I’m sure we’ll have a blast!
Our facebook group can be found at https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=208730485819891 and if you’re not using Facebook you can contact me and we can look if we can fit more people to come in.
Hope to see some amazing games again!

Finally the game is finished!
I’m not too happy due i didn’t get everything in what i wanted but at least it works now haha.
Check FailBot
While i was getting some more food to ease my hunger it struck me, now i know what i’ll be doing for the compo. If i manage to get everything inside the game it will have 3 different types of discovery! (omgnoway!) Discovering the environment, discovering new abilities and a big plot discovery in the end. I really hope i can build in everything haha.

mm noodles.

After enjoying a tasty breakfast outside i got an interesting idea for the game. I’ll have to begin to test out if it’s acually functional and playable.
This’ll be my second LD now and I’m up to the challenge again, i’m getting so excited.
I’ll be using Audiacity, Photoshop, and Game Maker once again.
I made a notification about the collaboration in facebook to get someone to develop the game with. I got a reply from a old classmate of mine and we spent a little while chatting about the basic idea and the roles in the development. This is what we’ve got so far:
The basic theme ideas we came up were deep water and leeches. I built up a experimental prototype of the gameplay.

You’re a diver in a sewer dodging leeches but watch for your stamina meter, if it runs out you’ll drown. You can try to detach the leeches from your body by pressing spacebar, otherwise the leeches will drink your health. The graphics are still placeholders but the basic gameplay is functional. Unfortunately im quite busy with packing my bags and leaving the country soon so i don’t know if ill be able to spend more time on the game much but Nina wanted to take the role of game artist. Oh by the way do you have to work the 48 hours straight or can you work on it as chucks in september?`

Some progress screenshots on the graphics. The game still needs more levels and some music and it will be finished.

The game logic works now nicely now. It’ll just need the rest of the game graphics, sounds and more levels.

The game is coming along great! I have had some issues with the game logic so i had to make some changes in the main idea of the game.
What still needs to be done:
Cant think of any other things but im sure there will be more, urgh i think ill go and get some hours of sleep.

Testing out ground tile graphics, most of the functionality of the game works but it still needs more maps and animation functionality for the player.
So here are the first screenshots off the game, the basic collision, shooting and particles are functional.

Ill try to make a puzzle platformer with jello enemies since im not sure if i can manage any advanced Ai in this point. There are these pillars of ooze creatures which hold different weapons. You’ll destroy the enemies in your path trying to find more ammo in the goo monsters. You’ll win the game when you find a good with a nuclear bomb inside which you have to expolde to advance in to new levels.
If im fast enough i migh make some “shooting” mosnters allso but we’ll see.
My name is Mika and I’ve been making game graphics for several years now, I heard about this event today so i have never participated Ludum Dare before but the main idea of game jams is familiar to me working in design/art positions but never as a game programmer.
I will create the game graphics with Photoshop and possibly also blender. The audio side will be mostly done in audiacity. My coding for games has been quite a catastrophe and there’s no way i could make anything actual playable game in 42 hours so unfotunately i have to use Game maker to make the game logic. All tho i haven’t used Game maker before it felt like easiest tool to make the small game, it’ll be a challenge to learn Game maker as i go but we’ll see what i come up with haha.
