Well, I’m in. This time I will be doing something new to me, unity. I am currently learning unity, and decided to give the compo a shot.
I will be using:
Unity(JS and C#)
Paint.net
Blender(probably)
I have no idea what to do for sound
I will timelapse and livestream using Xsplit.
Any suggestions are appreciated. :D

Preparing for next time

Hello!

I competed this LD and in LD22 both times I used XNA. Now I have come to the problem of Windows 8, which does not support XNA. So I will be using java for my next Ludum Dare, may it be 26 or later, I will use Java.

There is more to it than just because of Windows 8. I just don’t like XNA as much as Java. I find Java easier to program in and once I am able to make graphical games, I think I will be able to do more with it than with XNA. Also Java is easier to send out to the public, and can be used on mac. By no means am I saying XNA is bad, it’s just not for me.

So to prepare I will be spending a lot of time here and here.

Thank you for reading, please play and rate my game here

One hour left, still working on school work…

So I figure I will be done with 30 minutes left to go, so I may have to work on the game during the submission hour.

Don’t tell anyone : )

Need a miracle to finish

So today was spent with family and now I have about 2 hours worth of schoolwork.  In a short amount of time the guest room that contains my computer will be occupied, so I will get to work as soon as possible with my school work and hopefully finish before the end of the submission hour.

The one problem with LD is that you are expected to cut yourself off from the outside world to deliver a fun game. I will probably submit a crappy game that only had 8.5 – 9 hours of work. I understand that there is the jam to submit my game to, but then I need to work on a monday after school. It seems that until I have much better coding skills it is hard to schedule to make a game.

Enough ranting I have 2 hours and 15 minutes to do about 4 hours worth of work.

Hey guys

Just an off topic question.

If there was a windows phone app making jam, would anybody compete in it?

I recently got the Nokia Lumia 920 and realized the lack of apps on it. Not just games, but apps in general. The phones are so powerful and can support so much, but people don’t realize that. So I want to know if anyone would try to help make apps for it.

Thanks for reading,

Static

You can’t see, but I am using keyboard controls.  The game has an energy system, but not a good one. I am about to make a better one and give the attacks animations so you can see what I am doing.

Buttons Problem

In XNA for whatever reason, the Mouse coordinates are always wrong. This means that my buttons are screwed up.

If anyone knows how to fix this please help me.

Progress update 2

Little Better

Now there is a list of attacks that can be used.

Now I just need to implement them and figure out how I want to do all of the graphics.

I will probably get a little farther then I am going bowling. I’ll keep a notepad (app) with me in case I have a great idea.

Also just a side note, if there was a windows phone program making competition, would you compete in it. Comment below please

I don’t know how much I lost, but I hope not too much.

I was in the middle of dealing with a graphical bug, and will get back to that shortly

What I’ve done so far

Earth

As you can see I have not gotten very far graphically, but I am slightly farther ahead coding wise.

I am able to add an attack on earth and how much damage it does, but I am having trouble  getting it written to the screen.

Soon I will update with more.

So many things are going through my head right now…

they go something like:

I AM SOO EXITED UHUIHDSIUUIHDEFUHedfs

I am proud to say that I have finalized my tools!

…unless my computer crashes in the next 3 hours. So I will be using my old computer running vista. (Windows 8 doesn’t work with XNA) And I will will be using the following:

  1. Visual C# 2010 express
  2. XNA 4.0
  3. Paint.net
  4. SFXR

Probably forgetting something…

Anyway. I am downgrading from 16 GB of RAM to 4 and a 3.5GHZ  quad core to 2.4 GHZ Dual Core.

If I don’t kill myself in the extra 20 seconds everything takes to load, I’ll see you at the end.

Almost 10 Hours…Watch this

Computers Hate Me

Posted by
Sunday, December 9th, 2012 8:04 pm

Well, it seems that after being so excited to compete in LD again, my computer decided to hate me. I was going to do all of my programming on an older hard drive that is running vista. If you saw my previous posts you know that XNA is not compatible with windows 8. anyway, the hard drive died a couple of hours ago… FML

I I don’t figure something out I can try making something with LOLCODE :D

I’m in!

So, I have figured out my windows 8 problems, and will be using vista for coding. YAY :|

I will be using the following things:

Coding: Visual C# 2010 express w/ XNA 4.0 Edit: I will use Visual Studio 2010 Professional 90-day Trial :D

Graphics: Paint.NET

Sound Effects: sfxr

Music: Probably Fruity Loops

I will be making a library right now that will handle basic input and output, If I have time I will make it gamepad compatible.

Enough with the talking, time for coding!!
