Find Utopia in my Jam entry, A Space Opera

Hey guys, this Jam was a blast and I hope you guys had as much fun as I did. It got kind of frantic near the end because we decided to totally switch development platforms and games about halfway through. Then my friend was busy so I took over. We managed to pull through with I think pretty good results.  Our game is called A Space Opera, it’s a space action/survival game with some RPG elements. You pilot a tiny ship exploring uncharted space and fighting off aliens and space pirates in search for a Utopia like world that humanity can move to.

Me and the rest of  Live Evil, have finished our Jam entry Praegressus! It’s a top down shooter/rpg with a pretty big emphasis on story. For this entry we really focused more on game play and story than on graphics. We had a lot of fun this LD and can’t wait to do it again in December.

    Update on my Jam entry

Hey guys, I didn’t think I’d be doing this LD but I think I can now. So far I have a title screen, a fair amount of story, and some basic game play. My entry, Praegressus, is going to be sort of like a top down Deus Ex. With enhancements you can add to yourself and some shooting and stealth elements. I think I might try to focus more on story this LD, and maybe a little less on graphics. Here’s the title screen, I should have some game play to post soon too.

    MiniLD failed…

I think this might be the first one I backed out of, but anyways, I’ve given up on this MiniLD. This weekend got really busy and I my game idea was just really stupid. Here’s a screenshot, I have some game play and if for some reason you think I should post it, leave a comment.

I’m going to try and do this MiniLD, it’ll be by myself so it will probably suck. But it’ll be fun to experiment and get crazy. Be playing some old DOS games too this weekend, like Populous and Dungeon Master 2.

    Finished…I guess…

Alright we’re finally finally finished with our entry for the Jam, Sword of Altaria. It was a lot harder to make than I thought, but I learned a lot and had a lot of fun.

    Progress!

Well, we finally have something that we can show without being humiliated…with a day and a few hours left I think we’re making okay progress. We have the basic game play and graphics completely done. We even have some music and sound effects and music done, we just need to flesh out the story and add more levels. Here’s a screenshot of our entry, Sword of Altaria:

Hey guys, I’ll probably be entering this Ludum Dare, it’s just a question of who I’ll be working with. I’ll probably be working with 2 new Ludum Darers. We’ll be using Game Maker and GIMP as always. We’ve been working on a “warm up” game of sorts for maybe a week, here’s what we have so far:

I know I’m really late, just saw about the MiniLD. But here it is, my doodle, I’ll probably have it out by the end of the month….hopefully….

Hey guys, shard123 and qwezc here again with another update on our game Sanity. We’ve finished the basic gameplay and are now working on the rest of the levels and other refinements like music and sound. By the way, the best way to follow our progress is to follow me on twitter: @tman_BOSS

Here’s another rockin’ screenshot, we’ve added enemies and shooting:

Progress (or I can’t think of a good title)

Hey guys,  shard123 and qwezc here with updates on our Ludum Dare 22 game, Sanity.   The gameplay is going to be pretty simple, the hard part is the graphics. We’re doing all hand drawn artwork for the objects so it will be time consuming. We’ve made some good progress but don’t have enough gameplay for a demo or anything, but what we do have is a  pretty neat title screen:

Its shard123 here again, and of course I’m in for the Jam. I’ll probably be working with qwezc again. We’ve learned a lot this year when it comes to game  making so I’m excited to see what we can make.

    Good luck everyone!

    From Game Maker to where?

Hey guys, I’ve been realizing that I think there’s really not much more that I can do with Game Maker. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions as to what platform I should move to next. Something similar to Game Maker but maybe a little more advanced.

    Woa, never mind…

Hi everyone, I had a blast doing this Ludum Dare! I’m really excited for the next one, I think qwezc and I will be a lot more prepared now that we’ve done it before. Also, we’ll both be using the same software so we’ll be able to collaborate on coding more. We also found a nice music generator that will allow us to make music in a short period of time.  Now about the MiniLD. I’ll might enter in it, but because of school starting, I might not have enough time for it. But I’m hoping to least make something!

Hello everyone, a brand new version of Claustrophobia is now up on my site! It improves on the collision detection and music, as well as a bunch of other bug fixes and small improvements.

Even with a late start, our entry for the jam is nearing completion. Our game is called Claustrophobia and is sort of a dungeon crawler/maze game with elements of puzzle games.

    Here’s a screen shot:
