RE: Corrected link — if you want it

Tag this correctly, maybe you’ll be able to see it.

Sorry about that. The actual download link is http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/972220/secret_knitter_LD14_Wall.tgz

Corrected link — if you want it

That’s what happens when you wait til deadline minus 30 minutes to figure out where to upload. Thanks to a commenter on the “How to submit” entry, I was able to sign up for a dropbox account, upload my game and submit a post with a link — all  before the deadline!

Um…did I mention that the link was incorrect? I didn’t have time to actually read the documentation on how to post a public link; just shot from the hip.

You don’t have to bother with  this entry, if you don’t want. The artwork is minimalistic (I’m still stuck on the Minimal theme — man, you should’ve seen the game I produced for that one; although way over the time limit), gameplay is hardly there — you can play one level, but it always lets you win.

I will make fixes, artwork, packages (of the fixed game for windows, mac). But all of this, later.

I’ll post a post-mortem, and food pictures (Large chai, raspberry coffee cake from Allann Bros cafe — Free Plug — do I get free coffee now? Aw, nuts!)

Mostly, I just wanted my profile to show that I finished _something_ for a change.

Most importantly, I had fun.

Whew! Just under the wire

As usual in these competitions, I got about 4 hours to work on it.

But there’s something like gameplay, and definitely something to build on for a later release.

You will need pygame installed, and that’s all

Tested on Mac Intel, but I haven’t done anything tricky that shouldn’t run on other platforms. I can package this, actually, but (sniff, sniff) haven’t had the time.

It’s been fun, and I’m glad to have actually made it to the end, after a fashion.

Since there’s no intro screen, I’ll have to tell you. You are the bluish circle. The red guys are lemming-like dots about to get squished by the … advancing wall of doom… You scoop them up.

(The scoring is wonky, so you win by scooping up any number of lemmings before the wall advances, so the only way to lose is by failing to scoop even one — oh, well, I’ll fix that in the future — which I propose to abbreviate IFTITF from now on, to save typing)

Without further ado, here’s a download link:

CORRECTION: The previous link posted a non-working download link: Conclusion: I’m a moron.

Sorry about that. The actual download link is http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/972220/secret_knitter_LD14_Wall.tgz

I’m in for the compo! Looking forward to this weekend.

Platforms (MacOS) Intel — if there’s time, Ubuntu and Win.  versions may be published.

Pygame (python2.6, installed from macports)

Tools: using cfxr (sfxr, redone to be pretty on the Mac)

GIMP

Hope to post more than just pictures of food this time. I’m intimidated by the awesomeness of many of the entrants in this compo. But I’ll be brave and try to finish up with something awesome myself.

There’s a coffee stand on the North side of Franklin in Eugene, OR (just across the street from the main entrance to the University of Oregon). The place is called Espresso Milano, and they are awesome! I always get a large chai there, and Christa is wonderful to me.Large chai, Sugar-free Rockstar, and a bran muffin

…and…start!

So, when are we going to start?

What? When was this?

Oh, cwap!
