Timelapse! (Locked Away)
Finally got it up after a long night’s rest.
Progress!
I’d say I’m about 1/3rd of the way done; I still have to write music, make sound effects, and do a good amount of level design. The mechanics are mostly done though, so I’m pretty happy.

It follows the theme very VERY … VERY loosely, so I hope that’s okay.
I’m in!
I love this theme, and I’ve got some free time this weekend so it looks like I’m in! I’ll be using Game Maker, as per usual. Good luck everybody!
DONE!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I really pulled all my weight this time; The game has 7 tracks made with pxtone, which is a first for any game I’ve made ever. SO YEAH, I’m happy.
Now … time to relax.
What I have so far
Wow, what a fun theme.

So, this is the temple selection screen. The box at the bottom describes the temple that is currently highlighted.

This is your grandpa who gives you a special ability or item at the beginning of every temple.
I also have the platform engine done, but I want to keep the levels a surprise so NO PICS 4 U
WELP
Whatever, I guess I’m participating — I promised myself I wouldn’t do it this weekend because I would be busy, but NOOOOOOOOOO. Discovery is such a tempting theme!!
Anyway, here’s a screenshot. I wanted to do something with colors, so yeah.

I’ve just gotta program the HUD, and then bed. This weekend’s gonna be tight.
I’M FINALLY DONE
SO. TIRED. D:
Anyway, check it out here:

I’ll check out the rest of your guys entries in a couple hours when I’m done recuperating.
Calling it a night
Oh man, I’m pumped for tomorrow. Seriously, I haven’t had this much fun making a game in a LONG time, I can’t wait to show you guys the finished product. You have no idea how glad I am that I decided to stick with this. Thanks to that one guy who made me feel guilty! (I’m too lazy to check what his name was otherwise I would mention it BUT HEY he knows who he is)
Anyway, at this point I’m pretty hesitant to show screenshots because I’m afraid of spoiling things, but I’m in a good mood so what the hey.

The second dungeon of three. See those big ghosts? You can’t kill them unless you upgrade your snake whip to level 2 … and they kill you in one hit. Still wondering if that was a good idea lol
Anyway, good luck to the rest of you guys!
I take it back …
I’m finishing this son of a bitch if it kills me! >:S

I think I might throw in the towel …
After about 6 hours straight messing with the platform engine, the graphics, and … pretty much everything, I think it’s safe to say this theme isn’t for me. I’m sorry guys, I tried really hard, but I don’t think I’m gonna get anywhere in the time frame. I could do the Jam, but I’m gonna be gone the extra day anyway so it doesn’t really matter.
Oh well, it’s not entirely a loss right? I still have this “awesome” (Awesome is subjective) intro I made!

esc – end
Best of luck to the rest of you, hopefully you won’t run into the same fate as me.
Taking a “break”.
Why is “break” in quotes? NOBODY KNOWS…
Anyway, here’s more of my progress for those of you who are interested. So far I haven’t delved that deep into the gameplay side of things, I DO however have a nice platform engine programmed. It’s always nice to get things like that out of the way early.
Anyway, here’s some more screenshots!

More of the conversation with “God” at the beginning. I should stop spoiling this but I’m pretty proud of the dialogue.

What is this? A cruise ship? … hmmm.

Oh boy, it’s the title screen!

The very minimal progress I’ve made with the first area.
Also, YES the gameplay will pertain to the theme. I had plenty of time to plan it out while I worked on the intro lol.
Progress so far.
Putting the finishing touches on the intro, in which you:
A.) “Talk” to god
B.) Watch a cruise ship get destroyed by a gigantic tentacle

FINALLY. I’m done. Now to PAR-TAY!
I finally finished this goddamn game. Go check it out!

Almost done …

Just need to work on two final areas, and maybe implement saving. The world is pretty small so I don’t know think saving would even be needed, but I’ll give it a shot anyway if I have time left over.
Progress? No way!

Basically, a low-res seiklus styled game that takes place on an alien planet. You have to collect colored flames to do … something. Haven’t really thought that part through yet, haha.
Exploration isn’t limited at all, from the beginning you can go pretty much everywhere. Not that innovative, but I’m having a lot of fun making it. Also: You can fly!
