so here are still a few images from before that i wanted to share. showing progress yesterday evening and some images i made with graphicsgale
Status update
Saturday, August 20th, 2011 8:29 amnot much so far
Saturday, August 20th, 2011 2:56 amOh yeah, I’m in!
Friday, August 19th, 2011 11:54 pmJust woke up, dizzy, but posting….
I’m in! Escape it is, huh? So it’ll be Flash + flixel, cfxr, Paint.Net instead of Photoshop and now I need energy
have fun everyone!
Aaaaaaaand that’s it
Sunday, May 1st, 2011 4:04 pmThere are still a few hours to go, but this is the line for me. Gotta work tomorrow :/. it was fun as always, and i learned something new (how to use flixel). next useful thing to learn for the next entry would be sprite graphics, if i decide to use flixel again, as i generally use to draw my sprites by hand. i resorted to paint++ after giving up with my tablet after around 28 hours into the game.
i’m not convinced about my entry. i could have done a lot more. platformers are soooooooo time consuming actually, beause you have to create soo much content oO. puzzle games are a lot easier for me.
wow! another weekend well spent!
Must…create….level…
Sunday, May 1st, 2011 12:57 pmbreakfast or brunch, i dunno
Sunday, May 1st, 2011 1:57 amrunning out of pixels
Saturday, April 30th, 2011 4:07 pmno big change between this image and the last one
enemies implemented with a box hunting other boxes and a box dropping smaller boxes. about an hour ago i hoped that drawn better graphics would raise my coding spirits, but after inserting them (see the mailboxes), it actually looks very ugly.
not really what i would call great
tiiiiireddddd
Saturday, April 30th, 2011 2:58 pmlast thing ii can remember is that i made a sprite shit bricks. literally. damn, i’m tired, and my body didn’t really like me drinking too much coke. hands are shaking
4 hours of coding in
Saturday, April 30th, 2011 8:34 amheya, this is what i got up to now. spent the last four hours creating a level loader from png->level, though it looks very crappy. oh yeah, the game will be a platformer. what’s bugging me though is that i had an old tutorial of flixel, it seems which i followed yesterday evening, and only realized a short time ago that many functions are gone :/
left: the game, right, the level
i know i wasn’t sure if i want to participate or not, but when you’re in, you’re in i guess
AWESOME
Friday, April 29th, 2011 10:03 pmlike many others, i was also surprised to see the theme^^. i just woke up, and gotta say: this – is – friggin – awesome
. a fun game theme!
let’s see what we can do!
Setup
Friday, April 29th, 2011 12:26 pm(MAYBE) i’m in ^^
Thursday, April 28th, 2011 12:36 pmI’m still not sure if I’m really in or not
. Got a few other projects I wanted to finish, and then I realized last monday: oh noes! LD is on! Can’t…resist….must….participate…but…other…projects…
So if I’m really gonna participate, I’ll go with this:
- FLASH (for the first time. Sorry @gosu
), also probably Flixel
- SFXR, maybe wolframtones
- Photoshop
Awesome keynote @Sos btw
. Didn’t see my name though, but those of other good friends.
HAVE FUN EVERYONE
Ancient Discoveries: Postmortem
Monday, December 20th, 2010 3:55 amSo there it was again, LudumDare. I shouldn’t have been working at the same time, as there were lots of distractions, and I should get together with other people again to have more motivation
At first, the theme seemed to me like a revival of ‘Exploration’, LD 16. A peek to wikipedia showed me that ‘Discovery’ can be taken as that, but also as ‘to discover something new, not in the sense of exploring’. So I really tried to do that, not going into the direction of exploring (large areas) at all.
the idea came fast. it’s similar to a minigame that you can find in Pokemon Pearl/Diamond, where I spend hours running around. Then the rest was coding and a lot of drawing.
Coding is luckily not the problem. Ruby is very fast to write, Gosu nice to use, and the rest is up to me. No time -> hardcode. There actually is hardly any code, about 600 lines and that’s it. But the drawings ate up a lot of time. I also didn’t managed to do all the drawings. I wanted to have more, to animate everything slightly, and (of course) I also wanted to colour everything. Especially the win/lose-screens lack text, colour and animation. I probably could have done it with a bit more time
So that was it again! let’s have a nice time judging and playing around!
hadn’t thought i could do it
Sunday, December 19th, 2010 6:03 am
i was actually kinda discouraged yesterday evening, having only less than 20 % of the planned code and hardly anything else. so i decided to stay awake and started doodling…and here’s the ingame result! (without bgr of course). having this even made me continue coding, and that’s a nice feeling you get when you see stuff work
30 hours left
Saturday, December 18th, 2010 2:46 pmBreakfast, but no ideas yet
Saturday, December 18th, 2010 3:05 amScrambled eggs for breakfast, but still no good ideas. Had one idea about a kid sent to bed by its mother, but after the lights go out, the kid discovers the house at night. Platformer. Silhouettes only, one-color background, only eyes of protagonist and enemies visible. End boss: silhouette of mother, looking more like a tyranno, but if the boss has been beaten, the light turn on again the kid is sent to bed again.
It’s too much work and I don’t think I’d be able to code a working final boss from scratch with the framework I wanna work with. For the next LD I guess I’m gonna re-learn using flash
uahhh. just got up
Saturday, December 18th, 2010 1:07 ami guess i’m in. woke up at 4am to check the theme and went straight back to bed, hoping for ideas in my dreams ^^.
let’s get started!
iQueens for iPhone
Saturday, December 4th, 2010 7:24 amGranted, this took a while, and the respective challenges are also over already, we still wanted to share this with you: We submitted a game to the app store, and after 10 long days of wait it has passed Apple criteria. YAY!
So we present you: iQueens for iPhone!
It’s a puzzle game based on chess figures. There are three modes to choose from. A puzzle of the first mode is shown here:

In this (very simple) tutorial level you have to place 2 Queens on the board so that every single field is attacked. In later levels of this mode fields get more complex and you will have a different set of figures.
The second mode is commonly known as the 8 queens puzzle, where you don’t try to control the board, but try to set figures so that they do NOT attack each other. This mode will be included in the first update which we already submitted, but have to wait for (again) due to Apple’s policies.
The third mode is known as the Knight’s Tour. Will be included at the start of the next year.
So if you want to give it a try, it’s being offered for 99cents in the app store. Have fun!
