I’m in !
This time I will be at Atelier801‘s headquarters (in Lille, France), with my coworkers who will also participate !
I will use :
A disappointing game …
I am absolutely not happy with what I have done so far. That’s why I have not polished it before submission … but for the event, I think it’s normal to show you what I have.
So, the theme was absolutely not my favorite, so I have searched for an idea for some times… and I finally came with a zombie game (how original !) but where you are the zombie and you have to contaminate (or kill) everyone else.
At the beginning I wanted to have a randomly generated map, but for some reason (all the maps are not playable), I have only used the generator to make some playable maps.
The goal of the game was to represent an atmosphere of fear, with a lot of dark and some lights where humans can head to. You (the zombie) are much more powerful in the darkness (and actually much faster), but are quite the opposite when you are in an floodlit zone. The game takes place before the end of the world (the meaning of the countdown), and you have to be quick…
What I wanted to have :
- Humans can fight with weapons
- More interesting AI
- …
For the design, I’ve tried two sorts of design (zombie and humans), and since I’m not motivated with the game anymore, I have decided to keep it like that.
And to finish this post, I’m sorry I haven’t posted any update of my work … but I’m a little bit ashamed of it ^^
So here is the link to the prototype : http://revolugame.com/games/ludumdare25/.
I’m in !
I’ll be using :
- Programming : Haxe (with IntelliJ)
- Graphics : Gimp
- Sounds : BFXR
I will probably try to made a mobile game (and a flash version of course, thanks to Haxe and NME).
Good luck everyone !
Pixel World is finished!
I’ve submitted my game Pixel World (here is the entry).
It’s my first game for the Ludum Dare Compo. And I’m pretty happy with what I’ve done (and that I’ve finished it
).
Just try to pick up all the pieces from your spaceship in this world. Be careful, pixels are not as kind as we thought…
So I think I can go to bed now! It’s was a great week end with all of you !!
Progress…
So, i’m trying to make a simple (another) platformer that takes place in an unknown world where everything is just blocks. And to fit with the theme, the world is tiny (you can walk around in a short time).
The hero was going to Earth to participate to this LD, and during the travel, he falls in a black hole and finds himself on a strange planet. The goal is to find all the pieces from your ship in order to rebuild it. And of course join the Ludum Dare before it ends.
For the moment, i have : the intro, levels import, movements, instructions to guide the player.
What i have to do before tomorrow night : monsters, items, keys/doors (to make the game a little bit more fun), weapons, (more ?), a lot of level design, and if i have the time, i will try to make sounds too.
And a link to try the wip : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27752758/LD23.swf.
I’m in !!
For the third time, i’m in !
I’ll be using Haxe-nme and HaxePunk. MonoDevelop for the IDE, tiled map editor if needed, gimp for graphics and bfxr for the sound (if i’m able to make sounds …).
Good luck everyone !
Good morning !! a quick update …
It’s 8.30 in the morning, after 4hours of sleep, I think it’s time to continue.
So, here’s what I have so far :
- Movement (control by gesture on the touch screen, or the mouse for the flash version)
- The hero can jump, move, die
- Level selection
- Collisions detection
And what I have to do today:
- NPC + dialogs (and level design)
- Level destruction
- Design (at least try to have better one)
- Sound
To understand what I’me trying to do, you can imagine a solo lemmings (the flash gordon one) trying to get out of this place where he thinks he is alone. He has abilities of course, and can have more if he’s able to save other people …
I think that the game is more fun on a tablet, but i’ve manage to make it easy to play with the mouse … (draw the path of the player).
For the moment, I’m not really happy about what I’ve done, I’ve lost too much time trying to understand some features of NME because of unexpected bugs …
It’s time for breakfast, good luck everyone !!
