The Balance : mission complet.

We’ve managed to submit in the 48h timing, it was quite a challenge but we did it.
I figure we have achieved the peaceful, contemplative and eye candy aspect of the game. I still think the game could much better with another level of gameplay, it was hard not to break the contemplative side : death, bonus and such could easily ruins the simple pleasure of moving.

But i do have many ideas for solving this, maybe abe will be ok for spending another 48h to polish it and expand the experience.
Also, the game would be really sweet on touch device, unfortunately with the use of shaders, a simple port won’t be easy.
I’ll try to figure out how we could make an android build of it.
If you have some feedback, i’ll be happy to ear about your feeling upon the experience : how many level did you played ? Did you find the “burst” (click to boost) ?

The Balance : Polish
Sunday, August 26th, 2012 11:30 amSo, 6H left, it’s seems like we’re gonna have some extra time to polish and package the game.
Reuno is designing an awesome website and a webservice to enhance the overall experience.
Kuru is painting the intro (featuring our multi-layer god aka black budha jesus, compatible with EVERY religion !).
Abe is tuning things and stuff.
Line, my love, is baking muffins for everybody.


On my side, i’m polishing the chara designs, animations, bitmap assets and the UI.

We’re having a great time, everything is going great, i think we will be able to finish our jam in 48h (which was our goal).
The gameplay is pretty contemplative, we will let you choose to the balance between good and evil. As balance guardian you’ll have to guide life’s evolution.
Will you be a naughty demon or or cute paladin ?

It’s been a great experience beeing able to work with me good chumps abe and Aries in this ludum dare.

So, a few word about the game design. Rainbow riding hood is going to be a platform shooter with a touch of introspection.
Will you be able to rules the 7 Riding hoods ?
How many weapons will you manage to combo Boost ?

Unfortunatly for us, Abe’s netbook keep on crashing, his punny laptop couldn’t handle the hight level of awesomeness we trying to make him compil.
The engin still needs many tweaks before beeing able to be concider as prototype.
I guess those hardware issues are part of the challenge.
Anyway Mr Aries have finish the first music layer :

i think i m gonna stick with this simple cartoonish style in roder to be able to produce the amazingly huge number of assets i wanna inclued.

Can’t want to see those gfx inclued in the engine.
