So, I’ve decided that this Ludum Dare I would use C# instead of Java or Actionscript. I am starting to learn and use it using XNA and the Unity3D engine. I am really enjoying it much more than Java or Actionscript. It is a very powerful language that just feels right. For Ludum Dare though, here’s what I am using:
IDE: Visual C# 2010 Express or MonoDevelop
Graphics: Photoshop CS3 and Paint.NET
Music: Reaper DAW with Guitar.
I’ll also be streaming at: http://www.twitch.tv/thejeremystark
Just a little update video so far to document how the game is going so far. I took a route I would never really take, using Unity, but who cares. It’s fast and reliable.
So Far, I have a simple level with some pretty lighting, a character and a goal put together, I am going to add some door mechanics and what-not next. I have a gig later so sadly I have to go to that, luckily this is for the Jam. To explain it as much as there is, you’re the blue box and the door is the yellow bow, there really isn’t much else to say…
So after not being able to participate in last years compo, I am definitely in this year. I will also be attending a real life meet-up for the second time at the Shaker Launch House. Well here’s going to be my tools of the trade this year:
Language: C# or Java
IDE: Eclipse if Java, MonoDevelop if C#
Engine/Library: Unity3d if C#, LWJGL if Java
Graphics: Photoshop CS3
I will also be live streaming again this year at http://www.twitch.tv/thejeremystark so if any one wants to come check it out, I would love it!
This time for my third Ludum Dare I will be just be working alone as I did for my fist time. As for my tools of the trade:
- Language: Actionscript 3.0 with FlashDevelop as my IDE
- Libraries: Flixel
- Graphics: Paint.Net and Photoshop
- Audio: sfxr and Pxtone
I now leave you with this,
