Now with simple graphics

Even simple graphics makes it look a lot better:

Next up are squigglier roads if I can think of a good way of doing that, more distinct cities and real wall combat and hero mechanics. Random events would probably be good too to spice up repeat plays.

Advancing without graphics

After the first five-six hours or so I’ve gotten the basic gameplay working. The game design is a turn-based strategy game where you control a kingdom fighting yet another Dark Lord and his advancing wall of darkness and orcs*. I wanted the wall to bulge inwards when it hits a city, but LOVEs polygons don’t seem to like being concave very much.

* Does not contain any actual orcs, or any kind of graphics yet!

Yet another first-timer!

Yet another first time LD entrant here. I’ll be using Lua and LÖVE, as well as Notepad++ and Paint.net. I was originally planning not to do any sounds, but sfxr does look rather neat for that.

To test out my system of packaging the game I made a small test app and uploaded it here. It also has a small utility library and an example of how to turn a .lua into a finished LÖVE executable if anyone is curious how exactly that works.
